Marine Corps Commandant General James Amos, in an interview with Reuters, confirmed the new deal with an unnamed nation, which he said would buy the large aircraft within six months.

Citing unnamed sources, Reuters identified that buyer as Japan, which will buy between 20 and 40 V-22 Ospreys, the source said.

Stateside, the U.S. Air Force and Marines operate some 250 V-22s, with 130 more ordered.

Amos had nothing but praise for the aircraft, which initially had a rough start.

"It's coming into its own; it's going better than I thought," Amos told Reuters.

More proof the F-35 is going to be a good air craft. Once upon several years ago the V-22 was nothing more than a death trap, today the reality is much different. I suspected the second buyer would be either Israel or Japan. I hope now the people living near air and naval bases can get over their fear of it crashing. Those days are long gone.
