These movies were made just few years after the war, so you can see the soldiers are exactly the same.

If it was portrayed by the modern Chinese actors, then you won't see the similar temperament of the soldiers.

Then don't looks like this.

Pardon me, but I watch one movie of that kind. It has no english or VN subtitles so I kind of walking in the dark. The movie portrayed the superior of Chinese military might, yet somehow the director got it all over the top dramatic at the end. In the movie there are scences (a lot) where Chinese military artillery firing non-stop, and there seems to be no scene of VN artillery firing back, which we all know that is illogical in a battle with no air or naval support. And you know at the end the protagonist and his friends get ambushed by VN forces (seems to have mortal support) and get almost wiped out. The film ends with the protagonist screaming and carrying his friends cross the battlefield towards China trench.

I know the movie is a propaganda, so I have no comment on the storyline. However, the way the director made the war seems heroic, sacrificial is strange. I know you guys call it the Counter Offensive War, but do you take pride of going at war against a much smaller neighbor? The movie would have been good if it focus more on the soldier, and less on the showcase of Chinese fire power (a lot of fire work there). I actually love to read the diaries and letters of soldiers from both sides, to actually understand the harsh truth of the battlefield, and how people reacts to it.

@EastSea please stop provoking hatred. They want to show Chinese perspective, we'd better show ours. No need to waste your time and effort on stuff like who won or lost, who was wrong or right, who lost more soldiers. Of course if they do it first you are welcome to fire back, but for now, show them views from our side.

Propaganda? Go to see Rambo, then you will see what the real propaganda is.

At least China did acknowledge in the movies that it didn't fight the war comfortably.

Unlike the US, who turns a POW into a superman, then wiped out thousand of your soldiers. They dehumanized/demonized your people as the subhuman in their movies, while China didn't do that. So why don't you complain about the US movies?

How many Vietnamese soldiers lost during whole 10 years Sino-Vietnam War ?

I ever read there's a Vietnamese volunteer in ur Vietnamese military forum, that guy count both sides casualties by Army historical battle logs. I happened to remember the dealth summary during whole Sino-Vietnam War: Vietnamese soldier 2.5~3 vs Chinese soldier 1, right ?

BTW there'r dozens of body pics from Vietnam side on the battle ground, do we need to break this thread ?

Well at least that Rambo guy did it out of revenge, not out of patriotic or nationalistic. The US army in the movie was also very incompetent, and corrupted. Still, a typical Western propaganda though. I prefer realistic movies like Apocalypse Now or Born in the 4th of July, less about the war, more about the people.

@xesy I know mentality of chinese on this forum.
I tried to stay neutral, in the end I got fired indiscriminatedly just because I fly a VNese flag.

The Chinese directors portrayed you guys as the normal human enemies, while the American directors portrayed you guys as a bunch of orcs.

There is a fundamental difference here.

lol if they dont even complain about agent orange then they will never complain about anything american, Now you mentioned it is there any US action/war movies with viets involved where the viets played any roles other than cannon fooders. (and nope the viet girls who fall for the white main character doesnt count)
