We need to check the Soryu-class subs, even if we can only procure 1 or 2 of the subs.

Type 041 subs in the PLAN are far more advanced than the Soryu. What does the Soryu have the type 041 doesn't? China is already moving to the next generation submarines in SSK, SSN and SSBN.
They have only 6 Aegis type destroyers while the rest of their surface fleet is full of outdated junk. China is already building the type 055 cruiser in addition to the type 052C and type 052D destroyers.
China's older submarines could destroy the entire Japanese Navy through the sheer numbers China has.
The advantage is shifting to the Chinese military rapidly and nothing Japan does can stop this.
Japanese military is the most overrated military in the world.

Chinese military was ahead of Japan for at least 20 years. We are pulling ahead. Chinese military budget will be close to $1 trillion by 2020. Japan isn't coming close to touching that.
No one is keeping up with the missile force of the PLA. China has advanced ballistic missiles in short range, medium range (DF-21, DF-25), intermediate range (DF-26) and intercontinental (DF-31A, DF-41). Chinese cruise missiles force is already very advanced that can deliver it from air, ship, sub and land.
PL-10, PL-12, PL-15, PL-21 Air-to-air missiles.
YJ-12 ASCM with a speed greater than mach 4 and over 400km range.
New SSK, SSN (type 095), SSBN (type 096), corvettes (type 056A), frigates (type 057), destroyers (type 052D), cruisers (type 055), LHD's (type 075), LPD's (type 071A), Aircraft carriers (type 001A, 002, 003), new stealth fighters (J-20, J-31, J-XX), new strategic stealth bomber (H-20), transport plane (Y-20), etc
In addition China is very close to deploying the HQ-19 (THAAD), HQ-26 (SM-3), HQ-29 (PAC-3), DN-1/2 (GBI).
China already has ASAT weapons that can shoot down satellites, building laser weapons, HGV, rail guns, etc.
Japan won't just be outmatched technologically but numerically too.

onli last night a friend told me that of all modies list this class of sub is also on indian navies mind onli if japan agrees they say navy wants at least 6 with 6 as follow on order even withowt so called TOTA very pleasant decision on Australia's part:
