My two cents. China is not a federation. the constitution of both PRC and ROC don't allow any kind of "independence" of the provinces. a province can be autonomous region, but it doesn't hold the sovereignty. so the legitimate center govt has the right/obligation to protect its constitution...

I think Viet did a much better job than China Govt. because no one accuses them for building the artificial island. there're two possibilities. 1, Viet's propaganda sector did a good job. beat their CCP counterpart to shit out. 2, an obvious doublestandard in the west media.
