Senegalese troops have entered The Gambia to ensure Adama Barrow assumes power as the country's new president, a Senegalese army spokesman has said.

It comes shortly after Mr Barrow took the presidential oath at The Gambia's embassy in Senegal.

He has been recognised internationally. But strongman Yahya Jammeh has refused to quit and is backed by parliament.

West African leaders have threatened to remove Mr Jammeh by force. The UN Security Council backed their efforts.

Both Senegal and Gambia are Muslim countries. 90% + of their populations are Muslim.

This is a show of force from the African Union. They want to show the world that they are eager to act against dictators despite the fact that most of Africa is ruled by dictators who have ruled for decades in many cases.

It's a joke in fact.

BTW, one of my teachers used to travel to Gambia for holidays during the winter. He was fond of the beaches but they were mostly confined to the resort and had little if no contact to the locals.

Apparently Gambia survives on tourism and mostly coconuts/nuts. A very poor country.

So another muslim leader to be removed by force.
Lmao. You Muslim and self victimisation. when will it end?:cheesy:
Did you even read the whole article ? Stop seeing everything from a religious perspective. What's wrong with some of you people? :hitwall:
Your other brother was already ranting at "evil" western powers for invading another sacred Muslim country without even reading the article. Luckily for him, he quickly deleted his comment after he was made aware of the situation.

There is a UN resolution there to have that do anyways... was coming sooner or later better sooner.

Seems you have a little idea of African politics. I have been to Zambia and Senegal myself. It's a very nice touristic country with lovely beach, landscape, wildlife and climate. Apart from that it's just a tiny country sandwiched inside Senegal. Lots of Brits do go there for holiday/have a good time. Our government has already issued travel warning to British citizen in Gambia and repatriated many just recently.

Hopefully we will see people here criticize evil Sénégal/African union for invading a peaceful prosperous Muslim country as well. :D:enjoy:
