Celebrations all around as winter's first snowfall blankets Quetta
SYED ALI SHAH — UPDATED 35 minutes ago
Quetta residents on Saturday celebrated the city's first snowfall for the winter.

The city had received snowfall late Friday night, which continued through Saturday morning and afternoon, turning the weather in the city even chillier.

With mountains surrounding the city blanketed in snow, jubilant residents headed to various picnic spots in and around the city.

A large number of citizens thronged Hanna Lake to enjoy the pleasant weather.

"We really enjoy snowfall here", Muhammad Akram, a local, told DawnNews.

Faiz Kakar, chief of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, Balochistan, said he thinks the snowfall is a good omen and will reduce the impact of drought in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan.

Just like how Islamabad Lahore Karachi Peshawar are regularly given more coverage Quetta also needs to be given its fair share of importance. Areas and districts of Queta and wider Balochestan should be shown and the food and culture should be celebrated. For the critics, I'm not stating any anti Pakistani feeling only sharing my opinion that there is a gap and Quetta should be exposed to the rest of the country and world to show the full colours of of a vibrant Pakistan.

Somebody should dedicate an entire page on Quetta and Balochestan.

Yes it should be .
There are many Pakistanis here from all over pakistan who has dedicated and shown their love for quetta and balochistan. We're glad to be part of pakistan.
Please could you post pictures of Quetta an Balochestan? It's people, food and culture?

No I am from UK. I have only visited Lahore Gujranwale Faisalabad Rawalpindi & Islamabad
Quetta is a beautiful city . Known for its scenic beauty especially in winter . Summers are very pleasant and Winter is colder and can be extreme cold sometimes . It's known for its abundance of fruits .
It's less populated and less developed compared to other major cities of pakistan. It's the only capital city of pakistan that is on a high altitude .
It's a valley surrounded by mountains from all sides .

It's mountainous cityt and it also has some beautiful lakes .

You can read a lot aboit quetta in this .

As for people , all ethnicities live here . Pashto, hazara, baloch , punjabi , sindhi but the majority here is pashtun .
People are generally fair skinned , tall and healthy .
We've certain minorities too , like hindus, Sikh and christians . You'll find people of quetta generally simple, , brave , chilled and hospitable. But yes , the environment isn't that liberal as you'll expect in punjab and karachi . Like walking bazaars here without daupatta on head is not common and people are mainly religious and 'gherat mand ' .

It's same for balochistan. Some areas are populated by Pashtuns , some by baloch and some by sindhis . Over all it is a diverse province .
It has both mountains , valleys , agriculture , deserts and scenic beauty .

You would love it visiting it . Just like kpk mountains are famous for their green beauty , balochistan mountains are famous for their unique shapes .
