Chongqing-Wanzhou High-speed Railway to open on 28 November

A new HSR will inaugurate on Monday, 28 November 2016.
The 248km-long line is in Chongqing Municipality, Southwest China.

Construction starting date: December 2012
Bridges: 239 bridges 119998.55m, 48.5% of the total length
Tunnels: 56 tunnels, 58809m, 23.78% of the total length.
Longest tunnel: Fenshuizhen Tunnel, 9167m
Investment: 31.3 billion yuan, 126 million yuan per km (18.2 million dollars/km)

It serves as the first section of the 1000+km Zhengzhou-Wanzhou-Chongqing HSR.
The complete railway will open in 2022.

Both Chongqing main city and Wanzhou are located in the newly founded Chongqing Municipality.
However, previously there was no railway linkage but G42 Shanghai-Chengdu Expressway.
It is estimated that the long-distance coaches will be priced much lower and cut frequency facing the strong competition from bullet trains.
