Pakistan starts production of avionics for JF-17 Thunder jet

Yeah, when looked from Indian view point, it definitely has doubts in everything where IF is used, but this same IF used on the Indian future programs, that becomes a reality with no doubt in it.

By the way WS-13 specifications as told are much superior when compared to RD-93, so the statement by Sanchez is correct that IF the engine is matured, as its right now in testing stage, it will be superior to RD-93s.

The IF is compulsory, as the engine is in development and has just entered into flight testing. Once matured, it would be better then or equal in performance to a RD-93.

TaimiKhan, no offence. The sentence was to say it is better if it matures and therefore the significance of the if was amplified. It ticked my funny vein and I could not resist writing it.

I make fun of our LCA program and the Arjun too. DRDO and other arms in India hype up so much about aggressive delivery date that it makes them a laughing stock in world community but they don't learn.

Anyway, it was all in the spirit of constructive criticism. :azn:

@ Taimikhan.. WS-13 is better than RD-93 when it comes to thrust..... Even Kaveri is when it comes to thrust.... I dont know On what basis to judge Engines, Just my 2 cents...

Iam not a technical man, I have no Idea dear, I just googled and shared the Info.... But as per some gogling , It says Ws-10 has TVC but not WS-13.... May be Taimikhan or Zaki or Ptdm3 or Lt prateek can help u better with this

The TVC project is called the Taishan WS-12B (supposedly) but there are not much details available on this engine.

It is based on RD-93 and supposed to have 95-100KTN Thrust and TVC nozzles.
The project is in the development and the description material i was provided clearly stated that the engine is being developed for FC-1.

The smoke problem has been solved to a greater extent too and WS-12 is supposed to be ready by the year 2012-2013.

Yes you are right it is not the one with TVC but here here are its specifications quoted by a member on PDF
WS-13 engine specifications:

1.It uses solid titanium alloy fan blades.
2.It has a digital authority control system.
3.It has a thrust of about 7.8.
4.It's length is about 4.14 metres.
5.It's diameter is about 1.02 metres.
6.Dry weight of the WS-13 is about 1,135 kg.
7.Maximum thrust of the engine is about is about 86.37 kn.
8.Cruise thrust is about 51.2 kn.
9.Needs an overhaul for every 810 hours.
10.Total life of the engine is about 2200 hours.

Its not just thrust, RD-93 has no FADEC system, rather its something like Digital Electronic Engine Control, inferior to FADEC system. Fuel consumption of WS-13 is said to be better then RD-93, the by pass ratio is said to be better, RD-93 has 0.49 while WS-13 is said to be having 0.57, then the time between overhaul and the total engine life are said to be superior then the current RD-93s. Then it comes to price, would probably be cheaper compared to Russian, and most important of all, we would be free of the tension of the Russian factor, where India can influence if it comes to that.

The reliability and availability of Russian systems is i believe well know to you guys, so this one thing alone makes it one hell of an advantage.
 
TVC is a tech module that can be fit onto different engines if needed. Chinese 3D TVC first appeared in early 2000. As far as I know China is only seriously working on integration of TVC onto the WS-15 engine.
