Duterte: ‘Filipinos may sacrifice a little bit if US break ties with PH’

I understand that as a Chinese, you have extreme difficulties in understanding the concept of 'independence'. The bottom line is that if a country want US, it is their right to request for US.

Try to understand that.

Because Venezuela is the most recent and best example ?

LOL If that rocks your boat. The world doesn't buy it anymore. Fix ISIS. Venezuela will do just fine.

Glad that someone like Trump is about to end the police role of the US.
If Trump is elected, he will do no such thing once he is appraised of the 'big picture'.

Neither Russia nor China is the Soviet Union. It cost US less in aid to any country. For the Philippines, it is 'pocket change'. Kinda like how much you spend for your kneepads for China.

ARAYAT, PAMPANGA -- President Rodrigo Duterte warned Tuesday the Filipinos that they may sacrifice "a little bit," citing possibilities that the United States may cut its alliance with the Philippines.

"I am asking the Filipino in the coming days, 'If the America would really make true of [cutting ties with the Philippines], I'm going to ask you to sacrifice a little bit," Duterte said after he inspected the mega shabu laboratory at the foothill of Mt. Arayat in Pampanga.

Duterte made the statement as he hinted that the US may severe ties with the Philippines, following his series of tirades against its officials and latest pronouncement that he might "cross the Rubicon" with the America.
I like your three dots for the title.

Glad that someone like Trump is about to end the police role of the US. Trump will make America truly great.
But now America's corporate media is trying everything to drag down Trump....
I think US will continue its old war-mongering way of handling regional politics for the benefit of its immoral military industrial complex which is addicted to making money from bloodshed.
Such way can only make short-term benefit, in the long-run, that regime's decline is unavoidable.
There is a Chinese saying, 树倒猢狲散,when the tree is down, monkeys on the tree will flee away......

树倒猢狲散:D:D:D
A very good idiom to describe the behaviour of monkeys on the tree
when their mother tree cannot protect them anymore....
This idiom is from an essay written in Song Dynasty 1000 years ago....

Duterte: ‘Filipinos may sacrifice a little bit if US break ties with PH’

President Rodrigo Duterte

The President has lamented that the US seemed to have a lack of support with the Philippines, even though they are allies for a long time.

While he clarified that he would not cut ties with the US, Duterte confirmed that he will pursue an alliance with other countries like China and Russia.

"By next year, I would have entered an alliance with so many countries," the 71-year-old chief executive said.

In a press conference held earlier in the day, Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay said there was nothing wrong if the Philippine government would accept any assistance from China and Russia.

He said the Duterte administration has to entertain all possibilities in pursuit of best interest of the country.

"The President is saying -- based on what I understand -- that if there is an offer from other countries, such as China and Russia, insofar as let’s say engaging our country with trade relationship and such other arrangements or assistance that they’re willing to offer, we should not be arrogant to reject it,” Yasay said.

“You know, we have to pursue that because this is precisely in pursuance of our national interest,” he added. (Sunnex)

Fellow Americans, and Filipino Friends, may I have your take on this one? @gambit , @Providence , @Cossack25A1 , @jerry_tan @jhungary , @Syed.Ali.Haider ,@SHK , @Zero_wing

Filipino Friends seriously guys what is your current President thinking?

He mentioned that during his youth, he was a member of a leftist group called Kabataang Makabayan (Patriotic Youth) and even mentioned that Jose Maria Sison was his teacher; the latter being the central figure of the Communist Party of the Philippines, a Maoist communist group, thus they have ties with the People's Republic of China.

Though the site is in Tagalog.

This should give people an idea why he has negative opinion about the United States and Western Europe, and why he has good opinion about Russia and specially China.

Anyways, it is really hard to identify if he is applying realpolitik, pragmatism, or simply change the Philippine foreign policy towards "East", as it seems the policies may replace the United States with China in terms of development, aid and even security.

Sure...The US should leave. Take our money with US.

Then once the Philippines begins the same path as Venezuela, Duterte will either be ousted in the next election or turn into a dictator.

Most likely a redux of the Philippines' situation from 1972 to 1992.

The basic difference here is that Venezuela did not had a strong benefactor, while China would underwrite stupidity of Duerte so as to give a taste of riches that lie in way of East Asian countries if they bend their knee to China.

A drug free Philippines is more important than being goody buddies with US.

We should maintain friendly relations with all countries but oppose any meddling in our domestic affairs.
