Pakistan And India-Water Disputes-News And Updates

The World Bank, is the entity which negotiated this treaty and they usually sets up an adjudicator in case of disputes.
The World Bank’s role in the Indus Waters Treaty is limited and strictly procedural.

It is a co-signatory for certain provisions of the Indus Waters Treaty and its role is limited to a dispute regarding the implementation of the treaty, not its abrogation.

At most the World Bank would step into, as per the treaty, to appoint a “neutral expert”, or help set up a court of arbitration, in case of a dispute.

Of course the most important part of a dispute is that BOTH the parties HAVE TO AGREE to go to a neutral expert

One party alone cannot go to any neutral expert and ask them to rule.

All India has to do is not cooperate.

Toilet news from the toilet paper. No central goverment official has said anything. All hawabazi going on.

This will be needed in bulk in Pakistan if IWT is scrapped or renegotiated.

My guess is India will not stop water to Pakistan since such an act can starve population to death. International condemnation and pressure will be huge.

India will only try to alter water flow during peak irrigation season so much to cause losses to Pakistan agriculture industry which will increase inflation, losses etc.

But even then, it would be a huge price.

Why to make so much of noise on the stuff which is rightfully ours. Why cant they keep doing the stuff without making halla. Too much of unnecessary noise as per me.

But now, pakistan cannot blame us afresh as they have already been blaming us of stopping water (even though we have no means of doing it now and for next few years) by raising rallies against India. So India is just making wishes of Pakistani;s neta true.

Watching experts on this I believe India at present can stop water

We not utilising are dam storing capabilities
Experts believe that

Modi ji has to satisphy his support base who are on his throat for cowarding out of attacking Pakistan, Modi ji yeh bhi try ker lena

That should wake up the Punjabi Elites peacefully sleeping in their palaces...

LOL.... you have no idea.

Look at the map below and see the irrigation and electricity produced on Ravi and Sutlej River  ...... now imagine what happens when the water stop flowing :P ....... its going to be absolute Meyhem.

Treaty was signed in the spirit of goodwill and friendship. Unlike the rivers this spirit needs to flow from both sides.

As much as I agree that spirit of goodwill and friendship should flow from both sides, treaties are not signed on emotions.

Treaties are signed to solve problems among troubled neighbors/partners to find a compromise and they mostly have a guarantor.

Especially water which is the basic essence of life can never be used as a weapon, this is what the history of human kind agrees upon. Even the worst kind of sanctions on countries never block water.

So these two troubled neighbors constantly in some sort of war like situation should NEVER ever touch this treaty on one pretext or the other.

Even India media is slapping Modi jee for his blunder on Indus water treaty..because China is the upper state and india is the lower state and the whole Indus river originates from China...India is looking to secure water from China via treaty therefore it cannot act unilaterally on the river system as it would affect many country other than Pakistan...Modi jee is simply venting his frustations as China has built over 87000 dams and all modi jee can do is watch and wet his payjamas..

i know bro, thats why you see our govt is calm, they know its just rhetoric to calm keyboard warriors of gangalander which will yield nothing but more frustration when it will fail too like dream of isolating Pakistan

This is a darpok action by a darpok nation

Unable to take the military option due to cowardice they are trying to threaten using water.

Plenty of water flows through the indus, the majority of it is wasted pure and simple and flows to the sea

If anything this should give incentive to more dams, more canals and better irrigation systems

Also this should be the final nail in the coffin for any peace agreement or LOC made into international border talk

Kashmir is part and parcel of Pakistan and india's water threats should be more reason to support Kashmiris freedom and ceding to Pakistan

We need to prepare for the future with the necessary weapons as we may need to hit indian forces snd infrastructure in Kashmir if they push their luck
