Afghan president 'has lost faith in US ability to defeat Taliban'

Expensive war.

The Americans should have sub-contracted the war to the Pakistani military. They would have done it for half the price.

:omghaha::omghaha::omghaha:
That would be shameful. Indeed when Pakistan gave passage to NATO it left an indelible stain to the ever-lasting shame of Pakistan!

You do realize this is 2016 and this is an old article is quoting from the times of the previous administration. Some clowns were banking on Afghanistan failing and as you can see we have defended this country with our blood and the Burka Offensive is a total and utter failure.

PS : I am sure none of you have read the article but just the title :D stop posting old crap.
Oops ....:(

RAND corporation have faith only in Afghan's opium production. Rest is naswar.

I have no respect for bought puppet Government of Afghanistan, including treacherous Karzai.

Americans don't forget our assistance we provided to you, including NATO transportation route, logistical support, Henry Kissinger's visit to China - which was done with the help of Pakistan. Including the alliance which formed after that. We've done unimaginable support for people like you.

But there is a limit to Pakistan's support and kindness. I still wonder what did we get in return from these Americans and the support we gave them?

-American Media: defaming, false accusations, terrible coverage and evil propaganda reports against Pakistan.

-American Aid: Doesn't add up to the total loss on economy due to war on terror.

-American support and recognition: I don't see any.

-American FDI: NONE, instead they're pulling out, ungrateful and shameless.

-American corporate support: NONE, all of the best American corporations are located in India, not Pakistan. For example, Google HQ, Adobe HQ, Sillicon Valley, Telecommunication companies, Apple HQ, Educational support (NONE), Paypal (Why do we have to register from proxy? Why is it not offering service to Pakistan?), the list is ever expanding. No proper American to be seen, all employment opportunities are given to India.

-American recognition to Pakistan alliance: America has not even once properly mentioned Pakistan as a strategic ally or the support Pakistan had provided.

-American coalition funds: NONE, sales of weapons halted, call by American Congress to ban funds for Pakistan.

-American Humanitarian Assistance: NONE, that assistance is being provided by UN.

-American People to People and Cultural Exchange: NONE, instead the last place Americans want to visit is Pakistan.

Conclusion, it's all one-sided.

So I'm guessing all of this (Afghan Taliban training) is fake then?

I saw interview of the Pres. Ashraf Ghani at the GEO TV “Jirga” last night. I have to admit that some of the Afghan President’s complaints have merit.

Dr Ghani quoted the example of Mulla Mansour. It does not take a rocket scientist to conclude that it is not possible for a known Taliban Leader, to have Pakistani Passport and to travel in & out of the country a number of times without the connivance of Pakistani officials.

Dr Ghani also pointed out that he was assured by the GOP as well as by the Pak Military during his visit to Pakistan in 2014 that Pakistani territory would not be allowed to be used to harm Afghanistan. These were empty words as the promises were not acted upon.

Being a politician, he clever sidestepped the issue of RAW activities and of BLA. About TTP leader, he claimed that Afghan forces carried out 11 attacks but somehow Fazlullah always managed to escape. On the other hand Dr Ghani declared that Taliban strongholds in the Quetta are well-known; he could even give the addresses. However GOP has not taken any action. That is why he (Dr Ghani) considers Pakistan the real cause of unrest in Afghanistan.

One of his statements that struck the cord in me was his assertion that regardless of the sympathies of the population, the State must not react emotionally and that all State’s’ actions should be based upon larger national interests. This is the sign of a maturity, something severely lacking in Pakistan, especially in the PTI’s Imran Khan. Pray tell me; what did Imran Khan achieve by blocking the ISAF supplies thru KPK?

Drones did not stop. Instead Imran Khan caused a substantial part of the NATO supply business; which was heretofore exclusively with the Pakistan Transporters; move to Central Asian countries. Imran Khan also re-inforced the West’s view that Pakistanis sympathize with the terrorists because they neither eliminate the terrorists themselves nor want the terrorists killed by the US drones.

Dr Ghani of course would never admit that without the US & outside help, there is a serious chance of Taliban re-capturing most of Afghanistan; at the least all of the Pashtun belt. Consequently, Pakistan cannot afford to completely alienate Haqqani net-work.

Without doubt Afghanistan, in addition to voting against Pakistan's joining the UN; has been for a long time sponsoring anti-Pakistani movements. Since I am also a Philatelist, I have an Afghan postage stamp commemorating Pasthunistan issued in 1954. However Afghanistan is also our neighbour and we have to liver with her. Just as Pakistanis feel furious when BLA terrorist with safe haven in Afghanistan; drag Punjabi workers out of the buses and kill them; Afghanies feel similar anger against Pakistan when Afghan Taliban based in Pakistan do that in Afghanistan.

It is an undeniable fact that without peace in Afghanistan there can be no piece in Pakistan. Therefore, while military action against Haqqani group may not be in Pakistan’s best interest; Afghani Taliban should be persuaded to vacate the Quetta area and issuing Pakistan Passport to known terrorists, Taliban or any other kind, must STOP.

And twice the effective result.
I really doubt it. Remember the gulbuddin hekmatyar episode?

Afghanistan is not like a single nation. Warlord culture is prevalent there. You cannot reform or unite this nation, no matter what you do.

Even if you manage to install a government, its influence will remain limited.

Blast in Kabul happened and it claimed the lives of unfortunate souls. Claimed by isis however it will be used to bash GHQ by the principality of Kabul?
That would be ironic since NDS has secretly been supporting ISIS against Talibans and they blame Pakistan for supporting Talibans while ISIS is fighting against them.

They are learning from their hindu brethren even it they sprain their ankle blame it on GHQ while indians target ISI.

Good that you mentioned about his interview. I'm watching it right now :)

My idea is that Talibans should be turned into a political force and all militancy should be stopped from their side but they should be given a guarantee that if they embrace the main stream, there will be no revengeful actions against them and a general amnesty for their part activities. Both Pakistan and Afghanistan govt should work together.
It is my first exposure to Mr Ashraf Ghani and I must admit that he is much better than Pakistan political leadership, He is well articulated, clear in his vision whether we like it or not, he is patriotic and he sincerely wants peace in Afghanistan and in the region.
However, I think his powers and knowledge are limited when it comes to NDS, ANA, and activities of RAW in Afghanistan. Furthermore, India is not only against Pakistan, it is a Hindu country with a mask of secularism and it is against all Muslims regardless of whether of their geographical location. India is using Afghanistan against Pakistan and Mr Ashraf Ghani must not be blinded to this gruesome reality due to some peanuts India is throwing at them in form of dam or parliament. However, I agree with him that Pakistan should provide him the evidence of RAW's involvement.

Before there can be hope of any peace in Pakistan and Afghanistan, NATO must leave.
Also it was Afghanistan which drew "first blood" so to speak therefore the onus is on her to take first steps, no?

Lol you would think they would have understood this sooner. It's a little too late in the day for any peace talks. Taliban aren't going anywhere in Afghanistan.
