Pak Navy shows interest in Umkhonto (Surface-to-air Missile System)

Subsonic cruise missiles are meant for very specific target and Supersonic/Hypersonic cruise missiles are meant to destroy a large area or aircraft carriers. Subsonic cruise missiles have stealth and they have the capability to dodge SAMs. We would never use Babur to destroy cities but to destroy enemy's posts, frigates or some other very specific targets. However we do require supersonic/hypersonic cruise missiles but remember that both have different purposes and none of them is superior to each other. This thread is about Umkhonto not Nasr.
Kiddo, you have no idea what you are talking about...you are confusing supersonic cruise missile with ballistc misslies :omghaha:... and there's a huge difference between the two ...

I apologize that I didn't mention nuclear warhead equipped Babur. Subsonic cruise missiles are used for both moving targets and stationary targets such as frigates whereas supersonic/hypersonic crusie missiles are used for stationary targets and very slow moving targets such as aircraft carriers.
I should have read my post before posting it as I had made some silly mistakes... man that's embarrassing !

No problem, we all make mistakes...but both Ra'ad and Babur can carry either a conventional or a nuclear warhead. Ra'ad is more stealthier than Babur by design. Cruise missiles whether supersonic or subsonic should be able to target with precision since these can fly like aircraft with an engine and navigational guidance system based on multiple sensors, gyros (inertial), gps(satellite even Beidou, Glonass , Galileo in future), radars, altimeters, IR sensor and optical sensors which allows it too be aware of its surrounding and its flight computer can process the data and take decisions based on how it has been programmed. It can also change its course in the mid air to designate to a new target.

the babur is much bigger than the c-802 missile and i doubt it would be fired at an angle as opposed to firing it vertically
I used word retrofit can make little bigger launcher than C802 which can be easily fit with hydraulic mechanism to put launcher on vertical position to launch Babur CM.

i doubt it theres no need as it would be an easy target but a sub is not an easy target

Hi,

But just imagine to have launched it from 200 km away from the coast of maharashtra and see how far it would go in to strike its target.

You will hit targets far deeper into enemy territory.
Babur is quite heavy but any longer range CM will give us instant relief from our past and current mistakes for not having long rang bomber or fighter jet, would that our defense policy maker realize this ASAP.

Hi,

The most important thing is the flexibility of the heavy long range strike aircraft---it can launch a Babur type cruise missile from any point and direction other than a fixed land location.

When the predictability of the direction of the strike changes---then the enemy has to divert its concentrated defensive resources to a larger area and spread them thinner----you can launch it from a 100 miles over the arabian sea or from 500 miles over the arabian see---there is such a massive increase in the critical vulnerable targets.

It just opens up the enemy flanks---.

Sir i served decades in armed services and many times i was surprised our defense policy makers hesitant to acquire advance SAM just because they fear apparently our arch enemy would go for more advanced or un match able counter. We need long range bombers but we can't do anything.

Hi,

One thing I learnt in car sales---as a matter of fact I was taught and trained----just be prepared for what you are selling and be prepared to meet the needs and demands of the customer---give it your 110%---don't worry about the competition and you will come out ahead---just do your thing

The term used is called----CONTROL THE CONTROLLABLE---ie I do not have any control on what the enemy will get---but I control what I can get---so if I have my equipment ready and prepared----let the enemy worry about his problems----.

How does it compare with burak-II missiles?

when the pak navy officials were in south africa i heard they also showed interest in a hot south african model pam andrews. will they ever get her.................
What's reason for such irrelevant and foolish comment my friend. Life gets easy if you become positive. It is nice forum for learning things. Their respected Naval chief is visiting South Africa and perhaps they are interested in this system so let's evaluate this together.
