Significant drawback of the T-90 is ammunition stored in the main compartment due to its carrousel-type autoloader. Once hit ammunition detonates by killing all the crew and destroying the tank. This drawback is common to all Soviet, Russian Ukrainian and recent Chinese MBT
Does Al Khalid carry this draw back too?
@DESERT FIGHTER
one shot and tank is dead. This is what we saw in Desert Storm and Invasion on Iraq......

There were talks of the Altay having an 1800Hp engine. What happened to that?

Secondly is the current engine from MTU or someone else?

The Arjun Mk.2 is an improved version of the original Arjun main battle tank. It was developed in cooperation with Israeli defense companies. A total of 13 major improvements were made. After prolonged development the original Arjun Mk.1 entered service with the Indian Army in 2004. However the original MBT failed to impress the Army and improvements were required in order to make it combat-worthy. The new Arjun Mk.2 has improved protection, firepower and mobility over its predecessor. Trials of the Arjun Mk.2 began in 2012. It was first publicly revealed in 2014. Series production is expected to begin a couple of years later. It should replace the ageing Cold War era T-55 and T-72M tanks in service with the Indian Army. It is worth noting that it becomes increasingly difficult to maintain a fleet of ageing tanks.

Al Khalid MBT II
Modernization+of+Al-Khalid+Main+Battle+Tank+%2528MBT%2529+PAKISTAN+ARMY+I+II+%25282%2529.jpg

Upgraded variant of Pakistan's Al-Khalid MBT will soon be ready to deploy.

Al-Khalid is jointly produced by Pakistan and China and is one of the most capable Tank in the world. The New Al Khalid I & II versions will be denoted "Super Al Khalid" - SAK

(Super Al-Khalid I & II) or Al-Khalid – Upgraded variant is in testing as of April 2009. Incorporates modifications made to the fire-control system, sensors, IBMS, side-skirts, track pads, auto-loader (rate of fire increased to 9 rounds per minute), Ukrainian Varta electro-optical jammer (disrupts laser rangefinders, laser designators and anti-tank guided missile tracking systems), Sagem third-generation thermal imagers and improved air conditioning system.

Upgraded new Super Al Khalid MBTs with combination of new armor and optional Explosives Reactive Armor (ERA) can withstand all known 120mm and 125mm rounds. Upgrade also includes improved transmission and electronic turret control for the Al Khalid Tanks. Tank also offers improved protection for the NBC (Nuclear, Biological & chemical) warfare.

Pakistani Al Khalid Tanks are equipped with Integrated Battle Management System (IBMS) and new active threat-protection system. Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) has also increased Al Khalid's weapon carrying capability and now it will be able to carry 49 125mm HEAT & APFSDS (Armor Piercing Fin Stabilized Discarding Sabot) and Naiza 125 mm DU rounds, 1,500 12.7mm and 7,100 7.62mm rounds.

That's AK-I not AK-II.

Does Al Khalid carry this draw back too?
@DESERT FIGHTER
one shot and tank is dead. This is what we saw in Desert Storm and Invasion on Iraq......
Compare Iraq monkey model "Asad e Babil" with AK is ridiculous ... The ammunition is carried in armored bins, and the entire vehicle has thick Kevlar anti-spalling blankets apart from w fire suppression system.

We are negotiating 1500 HP engine but due to crisis with Russia now we are negotiating third party still not disclosed.

AK II has around 10-6 major upgrades... The one you are talking about is AKI -- which is already in service (upgrade to baseline AK)... @Khafee. The armour is boron based... And uses NERA Aswell as Kevlar for extra protection..
Also uses modular composite armour ... Has lugs for that.

Weight to power ratio is around 1:26
Hunter killer
Has GPS,Aswell as intertia navi
Has laser jamming and warning systems which also trigger smoke grenades sutomatically.
Rahbar BMS (connected to all friendly units/tanks and command center - terrain mapping and live data feed -- UAV connectivity)
125mm smoothbore is based on Ukrainian KBA-3
AORAK ERA is based on Knife ERA
French SESM transmission
IR paint
Remote controlled AAG
Can fire canon launched missiles like Sniper and modified (larger warhead) KOMBAT.
Sights are provided by SAGEM & Cathrine
2 bi axial 7.62 MGs
Varta I APS

etc etc

The details given by @Maarkhor of AK-2 are not correct. Nothing is known of AK II yet only thing known is we are in talks with South Korea to buy 1500 HP engine from them

You can not compare a successful project with a failed one.. According to sources arjun mk2 is a failed saga due to it's 60 ton weight and other flaws pointed out by indian army and it may move over to mk3 ...Here are some sources
"Battle has erupted between the Army and DRDO in their long-running feud over the indigenous Arjun main-battle tank. Unhappy at being saddled with 122 Arjun Mark-I tanks, the force has refused to order its Mark-II variant till the prototypes perform satisfactorily."
Source: TOI

"The recent RFI could also very well ring the final death-knell for India’s indigenously developed third generation Arjun MK-I main battle tank – a poorly designed vehicle (e.g., too much heavy armor versus too little horsepower) that encountered repeated delays due to a flawed procurement and testing process. Almost eighty percent of the 124-strong Arjun MK-I tank force is currently grounded due to more than 90 technical issues."
Source:The Diplomat

"Designing and developing the product around proposed qualitative requirements afresh would suggest that we may be looking toward the end of the Arjun saga,"Anil Chait, retired Indian Army lieutenant general.

If project under development is not included, then what is the logic behind including armata and Atlay.

You do know there is a firm order for the product, right?

A batch of 40 is already produced, or nearing it.

Does India have any intention to buy the Armada tank of Russia ?

If Russia wants to pitch the Armada, they will need to team up with government company or a private firm and enter the FRCV tender of the IA. This will surely not happen.

Only one to respond with some sort of design is TATA Motors. As far as we know.

Since , you are a senior member here, I would like to know how posts can be deleted..that too when asked a general question of why Altay made it to the list... since it is not operational and no source to prove it...most of my posts are removed .I never used any abuse, just questioned source for altay tank entering service.

You can only get my posts deleted including yours. But you can't stop me from questioning your claims...You said all tanks in the list are operational and in service and hence are in the list..now give me a source for your claims of Altay being in service...you even deleted the claim that you made in post No.7....
