Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the long-term US plot for Western Asia is against the interests of all countries, particularly Iran and Russia, urging vigilance and close interaction to thwart the scheme.

In a meeting with visiting Russian President Vladimir Putin in Tehran on Monday, Ayatollah Khamenei said the US has a long-term plot to take control of the whole of West Asia by dominating Syria and then expanding its dominion over the entire region, saying, “This plot is a threat to all nations and countries, particularly Russia and Iran.”

The Leader hailed Russia’s influential role in regional issues, particularly in the Syrian conflict, and said Moscow’s decisions and measures in dealing with developments in Damascus enhanced the regional and international standing of Russia and President Putin in particular.

“The Americans have always been trying to place their rivals in a position of passivity but you have foiled such a policy,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The US and its followers are seeking to achieve through political means and negotiations the objectives that they have failed to obtain via military approaches, the Leader said, adding vigilance and a proactive stance are necessary to prevent this goal from being realized.

Ayatollah Khamenei said Washington’s insistence on the ouster of Syria’s legitimate and democratically-elected President Bashar al-Assad is among the weaknesses of the US policies.

The Leader said the Syrian president, in a national election, succeeded in winning the majority of votes of the Syrian people with “different political, religious and ethnic” viewpoints and emphasized that the US has no right to ignore the Syrians’ choice.

Ayatollah Khamenei said every solution on the Syrian crisis should be endorsed by the country’s nation and officials.

The Leader stated that Washington’s direct and indirect aid to terrorist groups, including Daesh, is among other obvious flaws in Washington’s policies.

Washington’s “cooperation with countries which have no standing in the public opinion of regional and world [nations] due to their support for terrorists shows that the Americans have no honorable diplomacy,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The Leader stressed that with the particular exception of the nuclear issue, Iran does not and will not engage in mutual negotiations with the US about Syria or any other issues.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the proper settlement of the Syrian issue will be “very important” and will play an effective role on determining the future of the region.

If the terrorists who are committing atrocious crimes in Syria are not crushed, the expanse of their activities will spill over into the Central Asia and other parts of the world, the Leader warned.

Iran-Russia relations

Elsewhere, the Leader welcomed the further enhancement of Tehran-Moscow cooperation on bilateral, regional and international issues.

Ayatollah Khamenei commended Russia’s efforts on the Iranian nuclear issue and said, “This issue came to a conclusion but we have no trust in the Americans and are monitoring the US government’s attitude and performance in this regard with open eyes.”

The Leader said President Putin and Iranian officials are determined to expand mutual relations and added that the two countries should further improve cooperation, particularly in economy.

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the appropriate level of cooperation between Tehran and Moscow in politics and security and said the Russian president has pursued a “very good and innovative” stance on different issues, particularly over the past 1.5 years.

Political solution to Syria crisis

The Russian president, for his part, said Tehran and Moscow have very close positions on the Syrian crisis and added that his country emphasizes that the conflict should be solved through the adoption of political approaches and resignation to the demands of the Syrian people and groups.

No country has the right to impose its views on the Syrian people and make decisions about the structure of the government and the nation’s president on behalf of them, Putin said.

He added that Russia would proceed with its airstrikes against terrorist groups in Syria and stressed the importance of Tehran-Moscow cooperation about solving the Syrian crisis through political approaches.

Putin praised his country’s very active cooperation with Iran on security issues and the settlement of regional and global crises.

At the end of the meeting, the Russian president presented Ayatollah Khamenei with one of the oldest manuscripts of the Holy Qur’an as a very precious gift. The Leader thanked Putin for the gift.

Visiting Russian president Vladimir Putin donated a special gift to Iran’s Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during a meeting held in Tehran on Monday, Iranian local media reported.

Putin, who is in Tehran to attend the summit meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), gave one of the world’s oldest Quran manuscripts to Ayatollah Khamenei, another sign showing the strengthening relations between the two countries.

Russian President met with Iran’s Supreme Leader as part of his visit to Tehran to attend the third meeting of fuel-exporting countries.

He is also set to meet Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani.

Vladimir Putin became the first Russian leader to visit Iran since World War II when he held talks with Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in 2007.

The third meeting of fuel-exporting countries was opened in Tehran on November 23 by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, and prior to the meeting of the heads of the member countries, their ministers of oil and energy will meet beginning November 20.

The presidents of Bolivia, Russia, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Venezuela, Iraq and Turkmenistan as well as Algerian prime minister have attended the meeting.

Also, a number of heads of the leading international bodies took part in today’s Tehran event.

This year GECF summit meeting is different from the previous ones due to some reasons including the special conditions of the gas market these days, the important developments in that market as well as getting closer to the day of removal of anti-Iran sanctions.

Russia eyes $21 billion deals as Putin visits Iran

As President Vladimir Putin arrives in Tehran on Monday, Russia looks to secure export deals worth $21 billion with Iran which is about to walk free from a web of Western sanctions soon.

Russian media broke the news of the unprecedented deal, saying the contracts had been signed at the MAKS-2015 air show near Moscow in August.

The contracts included production and procurement of satellite-related equipment and Sukhoi Superjet 100 passenger aircraft, Sputnik quoted head of Iran Aviation Industries Organization Manouchehr Manteqi as saying in September.

On the eve of Putin’s visit, new president of Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Ilya Tarasenko said the company was in advanced talks to sell 100 Sukhoi jets to Iran.

Projects for cooperation

Russia’s Minister of Trade and Industry Denis Manturov will head a delegation of executives from several leading companies on a visit to Iran in mid-December. Gazprom, Russian Helicopters and the manufacture of Sukhoi jets, United Aircraft Corporation, will be sending their representatives.

According to Russia’s biggest defense conglomerate, Rostec, the focus would mainly be on civil exports in areas such as aerospace, infrastructure and energy, the Financial Times reported.

Russian Helicopters has said it will assist Iran to retrofit a repair center for Mi-17 helicopters and also supply it with helicopter parts when sanctions are lifted.

The company’s Chief Executive Alexander Mikheev traveled to Tehran last week with Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin to pave the way for Putin’s visit and conclusion of the deals.

On Thursday, Rogozin said Iran seeks cooperation with Russia on aerospace, including production of weather satellites, and remote sensing devices.

"They want their own weather satellites, satellites and remote sensing devices," he told Rossiya-24 television.

Russia has acted swiftly to cement ties with Iran after an international nuclear accord was reached with the Islamic Republic in July.

New alliance

Putin’s visit to Tehran is his first in eight years. It comes at a sensitive time when bilateral cooperation in fighting terrorism in Syria and Iraq and thwarting West’s sanctions on both countries have drawn Iran and Russia closer to each other.

The Russian president will attend the most important summit of gas exporters at a time of rapidly changing dynamics in global energy markets amid a need for greater coordination on pricing and supplies.

Iran and Russia own the world’s first and second largest gas reserves, accounting for about 57% of the total play along with Qatar.

Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak called Tehran as Moscow’s "most important economic and trade partner". The two countries, he said, have devised a package of projects worth $35 billion to $40 billion.

Massive resources of Iran, described an energy superpower in view of its oil and gas reserves combined, have set world countries salivating at the vast prospects of business.

According to the US-based Institute of International Finance, Iran will post a growth increase of about six percent next year. The country is estimated to contribute as much as Italy to global growth in the next decade, roughly $270 billion, the FT said.

This is great news. A lesson to learn for other nations how to be swift and agile in signing contracts and moving forward.

This is what I like about Putin. When he thinks something is important for his country he deals with it personally and gets it done. Original predictions were that Russia will be left behind in the race to secure trade with Iran. Now it seems Russia is the first nation who made it!

I have a question.. why is there a table upon table...?? Green one above the Brown one..??
the one above is the container for the old handwritten Quran that Putin brought to Iran's leader as a gift.

it is all because our nuclear program is so pice full .

Saudi wants contain Iran and Iranian influence in Syria and Lebanon. NATO, Turkey, Saudi, Qatar and UAE vs Syria, Iran and Russia.

you forgot to add Pakistan and US to list + Lebanon is not in US or saudi alliance

Pakistan will not fight for NATO. Pakistan will not send it's troop to Iraq or Syria or any other country.
Pakistanis committed to defending Mecca and Media in case of war or terrorist attack.
There is a mutual understanding between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia that Pakistan to defend Holy sites in Saudi Arabia and Saudi will provide free/deep discounted oil to our corrupt leadership.
