ISLAMABAD - Though Reham Khan, the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, does not have an official position in the party, she has the potential of becoming ‘Faryal Talpur of PTI’ in the near future, say political sources.

“She is active in party affairs as a member (of the PTI).
She does not have any position in the party at this time but things can change in near future.
She has the potential of becoming PTI’s Faryual Talpur,” said a PTI lawmaker, who is close to the Khan family.

Faryal Talpur, the sister of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari is believed in PPP circles as the second-in-command in the party.
She has been active in politics for long and shares power with her brother and nephew Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in the PPP.

The legislator told The Nation that over the last few months, Reham Khan has been active in party affairs and asserts herself.

“Imran Khan has no reservation on his active role in the party.
The only thing he is worried about is that Reham Khan is his wife and the opposition parties might accuse him of promoting family politics -something he has been criticising in the past,” the PTI leader said.

Two lawmakers from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province also confirmed that Reham was giving her inputs to the provincial government led by the PTI.

“She is intelligent and gives her opinion on running affairs of the government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” one of them said.

Asked for comments, PTI’s Member National Assembly Rai Hassan Nawaz Khan said, “It is her right to be active in politics.
I don’t think there is any harm in it”.

Khan added, “She is not interfering in party affairs at the moment.
She is only engaged in social works.
But in future, if she wishes to get more involvement in the party, there is nothing wrong with it”.

The PTI lawmaker said Reham was a member of the party and she was free to opine on any issue.
“If she gives her opinion on a decision, no law stops her from doing so.
As of present, she does not have a party office.
But she has the right to become part of the electoral politics,” Khan remarked.

He said the party had not taken a decision to field her in any by-polls or the next general elections.
“We can’t rule out if such a decision is taken in future,” the PTI leader added.

Another PTI legislator Dawar Khan Kundi said Reham would herself decide her future.
“We have no reservations if she chooses to contest elections,” he said.

Kundi said Reham was active in social works and had proven that she could promote party’s image.
“The time will decide her future but she is not interfering in party affairs.
She does have her own opinion on issues,” he commented.

He said if the party decides to field her in the elections, “I don’t think anyone will oppose it”.
There were rumours that Reham was thinking about taking part in active politics from the next general elections.
Though these are still rumours, yet with the power position that Reham has attained upon marrying Imran Khan, one just cannot out-rightly dismiss the temptations she might be dealing with - to take part in politics.

“I don’t think there is anything wrong if she joins practical politics but it is again going to be her own decision.
And the party has to decide who is beneficial in what role,” Kundi said.
Reham was a broadcast journalist before she married Imran this year.
She worked for the BBC as weather presenter.
Her career in Pakistan began in January 2013 - she made coverage of the 2013 general elections.

Earlier this year, the KP government led by the PTI, appointed Reham as ambassador for street children.
Her job includes raising awareness about the rights of poor children.

Is Reham Khan becoming PTI’s Faryal Talpur?

If there is nothing wrong in rehan khan and is her right to be in politics, why is it wrong for pmln or PPP?

Everyone has right to be in politics. It is hypocrisy of imran, as he accuses others but cannot prevent it in his party.

There is not a clear line as to when there is dynastic politics. But we do know is, if sons of military join army, Air Force go Air Force, civilian pilots have their son flying planes as well, is that not "dynastic?"

At least people are electing these "dynastic" rulers compared to a father hiring his son in his company or seefarish for job at PIA, military promotion etc.

Is Reham Khan becoming PTI’s Faryal Talpur?

No she wants to be Khalida Zia of Bdesh or Acino of Philippines

In my personal opinion I don't want her in politics. Her job should only be TV programs.

His active role, or was it her active role?
RIP english language.

“She is intelligent and gives her opinion on running affairs of the government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” one of them said.

Yes I am sure she is very intelligent, but what makes her an expert in running day to day affairs of KPK government. All she is a media personality who married a famous politician, I don't oppose her participation but she got position because of her husband. Any how another dynasty in the making, but dont expect PTI people to ever acknowledge that.

Do you know the actual definition of dynastic politics..?????

If son of soldier goes in military ... He is not made instantly commander ... He gets toughest training like other soldiers ... Then if he does have capability he goes for further position ... This applies in all fields except politics in Pakistan ... Nobody can raise objection if one's son, daughter, brother, sister or wife start his/her politics from grass root level ... Start work from district level to national level ... It would all fine if in future he/her be included in top leadership .........

Would you tell me what had they (Shabaz Sharif, Hamza, Maryam, Zardari, Bilawal, Asfandyar, Fazal-ur-Rahman, Faryal, and now Reham) have qualification to be leaders of their parties.....???

She's sooo dam fake...worst then Meera or Veena Malik... this Pakistani nation has more suffering to go thru if these are the future of Pakistan ...!

Politicians also get training. One doesn't just become politician. There is different training than army though. They actually win election through vote.

Does thousands have any say in electing general or a major? Nope.

Hi,

Actually it is disgusting by the author to compare the two of them---. Faryal Talpur---a corrupt politician who had to run away from the country with her brother.

Reham Khan could be an asset to the party and the nation. Imran Khan may not be the sharpest politician that there is---but he is not corrupt---and I doubt that his wife would either---.

Just to lump criminal dynastic rule with honest and hard working family association is a criminal act in itself---.

I know politicians get training ... As a political worker he gets later becomes a leader but what about family members of politicians .......

Okay---you are mixing apples and oranges----.

The comparison would be Nawaz Sharif and Kulsoom his wife----Geogre Bush the sr and his wife Barbara Bush----Imarn Khan and his wife Reham Khan----.

Spouses of leaders are also a part of the package----but not the children----and not the sisters----.

As is in the military or in any civil service----at a meeting of spouses---the commanding generals wife by default would be the go to person----the looked upto person---and same with the highest ranking civilians officers wife as well.

But when it came to the children---everyone would have to make their own place----.

Reham if taking part in politics so I think there is no has m until or unless she is trying to lead or head the party which should not be allowed.
When imran said dynastic party it means head is always Bhutto and shareef and wali family and off course fazal rehman.
pti head in future if headed by Imran family then I totally agree with all reham haters but if she will just a party worker then why hue and cry.
bilawal is supposed to be heading ppp in future and now currently heading it.
similarly Maryam in centre and Hamza in province currently heading the party.
HUGE DIFFERENCE.

she is already . using gov helicopter enjoying first lady of PTI and much more . is umer main shadi ho gai bari baat thi wesy :p: warna ajkal aunties ko moon nhi lagata koi
