So I touched on this topic in another thread. Looks like many seem to agree with my point of view.

Pretty basic premise

(1) The UK can now borrow cheaply using the giant Scottish oil reserves as collateral

(2) If Scotland leaves, the collateral (oil reserves) is no longer available

(3) So the cost of borrowing money for Britain skyrockets

Scotland’s North Sea oil reserves are slowly running out, and so oil won’t be such a valuable resource forever.

But for now, it is still invaluable (especially as collateral for British borrowing) … and the key to Britain’s panic over potential Scottish independence.

Like I said. England NEEDS these oil reserves in order to service their debt. Without it, the whole house of cards comes crashing down. No more money laundering hub, for the criminally rich, for you London.

Also. For those drinking the bbc koolaide.

AN INDEPENDENT SCOTLAND WOULD HAVE THE HIGHEST GDP PER CAPITA IN THE WORLD.

YES! An independent Scotland would have the highest GDP per capita in the world. A ‘No’ vote is asinine. | Max Keiser

Now enough with the doom and gloom squad. Simple scare tactics from the worlds greatest terrorists. The English.

Without territory, Britain would no longer be a superpower. Without Scotland, Britain would be too small to be a superpower.

The only reason the uk still has a seat at the security council is because it has nukes. The only reason its pound is still economically useful is because the wealthy use it and London to store and launder a good amount of their wealth.

All these things will be moot if England cant service its debts.

That is the crux of it all.

If Scotland goes, Britain would only have a portion of each of the two British isles. That'd be bad for British.

Of course it would. As far as perception. Who would take a tiny little island seriously anymore.

Britain is not very small now at 244,000 square kilometers. Without Scotland, Britain would be 100,000 something square kilometers. That would make it much smaller. Thing is, if Scotland goes, so will Wales and Northern Ireland.

not good not good. this might be good for Scotland or it might not. only a YES vote and time will tell.
but if the UK is doomed it might as well become the 51st state :sarcastic::sarcastic:

I already agreed with you on that point. That what my comment was referencing. The UK without Scotland is basically just England. And perception is very important. Buteconomics trump all of these other considerations.

Anyway. The point of all this is Scotland will be just fine if the vote for independence. It will be England that suffers. Not the other way around.

What should I do? Favor British for 1 United Kingdom or the independent of Scotland? Well, usually Indonesia favor a united country and doesn't like separatism; so naturally we will favor UK for this. But... for a country who favor separatism in other countries, what should I do?

Do whatever you want. I dont think Scotland cares very much either way.

Im not to sure about the whole story of Scotland independence, but generally I think any nation have rights to be independent if they want and have my support

Go,Scotland,and be your own master。

There would no Sino-Indian border problems if it were not for the Brits who not only brought opium to China but also looted India。

Payback time。
 that's also another way to look at it, i was cheering for them because the English were still meddling with HK's affairs. Premier Li responded he prefers to see a united United Kingdom because an independent Scotland would mean new laws and could affect Chinese business operating in UK. Dilemma dilemma dilemma :D

So if Scotland gains independence they will inherent 8 euro fighter typhoons-

What about Nukes?-
