Satanic Temple to distribute materials to school children in Florida

For the THIRD time I'm reminding you the "Satanic Temple" is a bunch of Atheists (not Satanists) who don't believe the government should be showing any religious materials/symbols on government property as it is an offense to the separation of church and state. The problem is some local governments are run by highly religious people who are dodging this separation rule by claiming to give all religions "equal access".

To counter this the "Satanic Temple" was created to exploit their "equal access" rule. They created a "religion" that they were sure would strongly offend the very people who support "equal access". They created a statute of Satan with children "looking up at in appreciation" to put next to religious statues in Oklahoma. Since some religions are being allowed to spread their religion is schools under the "equal access" rights they now are going to play along by handing out literature on how great their Satanism is too.

Both creationism and evolution are 'theories', those who take both of them 'literally' are part of the moron pool.

What is a Scientific Theory? | Definition of Theory

Evolution is well supported with evidence. A scientific theory is no the same as the usage of the term theory in everyday life.

Equating creationism with the theory of evolution is in my opinion moronic.

How dare they! Every one knows that the flying spaghetti monster is the one true god!

In cooperation with The Freedom From Religion Foundation, and in accordance with School Board policy that allows religious material dissemination, The Satanic Temple announces they will distribute Satanic literature in Florida Public School district.

In response to a recent School Board decision in Orange County, Florida that allows for the dissemination of religious materials in public schools, The Satanic Temple has announced they will follow suit by providing Satanic materials to students during the new school year. Among the materials to be distributed are pamphlets related to the Temple’s tenets, philosophy and practice of Satanism, as well as information about the legal right to practice Satanism in school.

This effort came about when the Orange County school system allowed an evangelical Christian group to distribute Bibles while censoring atheist materials distributed by the Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), a nonprofit that strives to uphold the principle of separation of state and church. In response, FFRF sued the Orange County School Board. Neither FFRF nor The Satanic Temple agree with the school board’s decision to allow the distribution of religious materials in schools; however, The Satanic Temple seeks to ensure that pluralism is respected whenever the Church/State division is breached.

The Satanic Temple’s spokesperson, Lucien Greaves, explains, “We would never seek to establish a precedent of disseminating our religious materials in public schools because we believe our constitutional values are better served by respecting a strong separation of Church and State. However, if a public school board is going to allow religious pamphlets and full Bibles to be distributed to students — as is the case in Orange County, Florida — we think the responsible thing to do is to ensure that these students are given access to a variety of differing religious opinions, as opposed to standing idly by while one religious voice dominates the discourse and delivers propaganda to youth.”

The Satanic Temple is best known for their ongoing efforts to erect a Satanic monument at the Oklahoma State Capitol where they seek to contrast an already-standing 10 Commandments monument. As with the distribution of religious material in Florida schools, the Temple is clear that it would not seek to erect a monument if it were not for the prior presence of a public religious homage.

“Even as we prefer public policies respecting secularism, we feel that opportunities — such as this — to establish an equal voice for contrasting religious opinions in the public square, tend to favor marginalized, lesser-known, and alternative religions,” Greaves explains. “I am quite certain that all of the children in these Florida schools are already aware of the Christian religion and it’s Bible, and this might be the first exposure these children have to the actual practice of Satanism. We think many students will be very curious to see what we offer.”

'Evidence' keeps changing. Darwanist theory is no longer valid since it has morphed into something else entirely. No one teaches Evolution as a 'fact'. Its taught as a 'theory' for a reason.

LOL! like theory of gravitation and theory of relativity.

Thats Physics, which is an entirely different paradigm.

The term 'satanism' is mere propaganda to show atheists in a bad light. If Atheism is satanism, then i'm a Satan worshiper.
You defend the Devil? You're good at rhetoric but you can't show blend honest atheist with people calling to murder, to lie and to deceive people

What is it that needs defense here? In USA, every claimed religion has equal rights to portray itself as it wishes and to participate in all lawful activities on par with every other religion, without fear of being favored or acted against by the government.
I guess your country will also make children sacrifice and say it's only a belief

If I remember correctly, these are LaVeyan Satanists. They're really just atheists dressed up to mock the church, and aren't really a religious organization at all.

They're are not atheist, they corrupt people and use the satanic symbol

why there be any issue since the school allowed distribution of religious stuff from all religions.

This is called freedom, which we should be fighting for in our countries.

Your "guess" is patently false and intentionally malicious, as is usual and expected for you, Sir.

All religions are treated equally by law without fear or favor.

@Akheilos is the expert on genetics here on PDF.

True, but Ignoring the church state issue for a moment isn't that gong to favor religions that have big budgets or favor proselytizing if implemented nationally?

Personally i will say no because more than the budget it has to do with use of affective tools. Being a Muslim i have seen how with less resources the religious groups managed to expand influence. Besides religions find many sponsors even from other faiths other than one which is aiming at publicity

She couldn't answer this either :P

For starters, mutations do not necessarily increase genetic information, they merely change it in ways that may be beneficial or deleterious, which influences what changes will survive or not for future generations based on natural selection. Having said that, what sort of evidence would you be looking for in that statement?
