Posted on: 9/13/2014
Praises government for showing patience and restrains
Dialogues should be started again to arrive at a solution that is acceptable to all stakeholders
The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has appealed to the government to release all innocent workers of Pakistan Awami Tehreek and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf immediately as a gesture of goodwill. He said that efforts should be made to resolve issues through mutual understanding.

In an interview Mr Hussain praised the government for showing patience and restraint in handling the situation but added that the government should take recourse to patience a little more and release all workers.

Mr Hussain appealed to the PAT and PTI leaders to restart the process of dialogues and try to resolve issues in a manner that may be acceptable to the government and all other stakeholders.

Mr Hussain said the government was within its right to use the law for maintaining law and order but the situation demands that the law is not misused. The government should move gently in order to ease the situation.

Speaking about the devastation caused by floods Mr Hussain said that Punjab and Kashmir were hit hard by floods and hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced. He extended sympathies to the flood victims who lost everything in floods. He prayed Almighty Allah to end the hardships being faced by the people.

Mr Hussain said that the people affected by floods and heavy rains need our attention. He appealed to the PAT and PAT workers to put off their sit-ins for the time being in order to help the people affected by floods.

Scotland Yard appeals for information in Imran Farooq’s murder case

LONDON: Four years after the murder of Dr Imran Farooq, detectives investigating the case are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

The appeal by Scotland Yard states that to date they have spoke to 4,466 people, reviewed 7,401 documents, followed up 2,379 lines of inquiry and seized 3,900 exhibits in order to bring the killers of Dr Imran to justice.

Dr Farooq was on his way home from work when he was attacked outside his home in Green Lane, Edgware, London, shortly before 17:30hrs on Thursday 16 September 2010.

Dr Farooq, 50, died as a result of multiple stab wounds and blunt trauma to the head. A five and a half inch-bladed kitchen knife and a house brick used in the attack were recovered at the scene.

According to the Scotland Yard this remains an ongoing investigation and ‘we continue to liaise closely with the authorities from Pakistan. A number of lines of inquiry are being actively pursued.’

‘It is thought that his murder would have required careful planning and help from other people, some of whom may have provided assistance or information unwittingly,’ said the appeal

Detectives believe that Dr Farooq was about to launch a new independent political career before his death and this remains a key line of inquiry in this investigation.

Police know that in July 2010, Dr Farooq set up a Facebook profile and amassed a large number of contacts through this social network. However investigators said they retained an open mind as to his murder.

To date a total of 2 people have been arrested in connection with this investigation.
