Would it be better if Pakistan worked on a SAM system like the arabs did in the 70s against israel?

would it be a more effective solution if pakistan worked on integrating chinese SAMS like the HQ-18s and HQ-15s as well as more advanced short-mid range SAMs, like the arabs did in the 70s against israel, the SAM belt the arabs incorporated was pretty effective and israel lost over 100 fighters against there air defense network. Would a similar defense help pakistan

I've said it many times, Pakistan needs to create its own SAM network, two tiers at the LEAST. Then a short distance point defense tier. TOT can be obtained from the Chinese I am sure. But this should be probably one of the highest priorities. If you network your borders with multiple SAM system internally produced in numbers, you've given yourself an offensive punch immediately. Your so called enemy is right at your borders (although the real enemy the Talibastards are right inside your society), but for any wars with India, you could theoretically hit IAF's planes 50-60 miles inside its territory. But you guys need long range and high altitude SAMS ASAP.

I don't know if the comparison with Israel helps here as if it was to happen now, Israel would probably fly deep inside anyone's territory and probably have minimal losses.

hi thanks for replying. the israel comparison only came with respect to how the SAM belt was so effective against there fighters in 1973. Times have changed, but a similar concept could prevail against the IAF(indian). But given how dangerous the MKIs are and mirage 2000s i'm sure many of there jets would enter the airspace armed to the teeth with SEAD weapons.
I guess there must be a reason why the army and air force are holding back etc. from my understanding they already have the HQ-9 Which is a version of the S-300 and are negotiating with the HQ-16?

PAF has indicated the requirement for a net centric SAM Net, however the progress will depend on the availability of funds, which isn't happening anytime soon.

A net centric layer of.

RBS-70, CROTALE, ANZA For Point Defense
SPADA-2000, LY-60 for Area Defence
HQ-18, HQ-9B for Strategic long range defense.

Such a net would surely make any adversery think twice before mounting a misadventure.

Why do you suggest that? It would endanger the lives of your marines in case of another raid by your military.

Surely you are an American, Orangzaib?

The best air defense against an air force is an effective air force. Israel knows which enemies she can pick on and which not. Arab states with non existent/incompetent/technically constrained air forces are one thing but you'll never see her messing with the ones having potent forces and force multipliers. SAM network is a component of air defence system and of course there is always a trade off between building a SAM network or having more air assets. Striking a balance is what is required.

The first question will naturally be - what air defence capabilities Pakistan has right now?

That fact is Israel is a coward. It can only bomb helpless civilians.

Quite redundant, with different low-high level systems employed at different places. Abbotabad incident exposed major loopholes in the early warning systems against advanced adversaries. PAF should induce more passive assets to create a mix of effective active passive detection.

They are not cowards, they are smart. Like I said before, they know which enemies to pick on.

of course last all israel -arab were won by ARABs QUITE Decisively !

Arabs had money. Pakistan doesn't have it. End of a practical discussion.

We already have HQ-9s, SPADA-2000 and Crotale SAMs. Egypt bought SAMs because it was a fast available detterent till they rebuild the air force. Go rub it on the grass!

Abbotabad isnt a direct threat from India. Our capabilities are maxxed out on the Eastern wing.

Lol that was harsh .....

It will take India two years to beat (catch up) Pakistan, take that money where sun doesnt

It will take India two years to beat (catch up) Pakistan, take that money where sun doesnt shine.
the funny part is that the country loaded with money, buying every weapon around the world wether they have the ability to use it or not, yet it was their defense minister who said it will take India two years to be able to beat Pakistan.
