What about Kashmir?

Glad to know that Pakistanis have not forgotten yet, but may be Kashmiris have lost their spirit and morale. They would need serious effort if they are interested.

Good to know that Bangladeshis are acting as Aide Mémoire to the flagging Pakistani minds and josh.

But it is sad to know that the Pakistanis have forgotten to appreciate Bangladesh and their brave fight against all odds to get their Liberation!

Is Pakistan still serious, or they have forgot this issue?

Kashmiris themselves need to be more vocal and need to be in the frontline struggle for their independence. Pakistan has already made too many sacrafices for the Kashmiri independence struggle. And Kashmiris from India Occupied Kashmir have to tell us what they want us to do to help them, they are not vocal as much as they were 10 or 20 years ago.

I think Kashmiri Muslims will never accept themselves as Indians. The Kashmiri Muslims in Pakistan hate India to the core, more than other ethnic groups of Pakistan.

Dr Shabir Choudry has already stated what is the will of the people in Pakistan part of Kashmir!

Well a Choudry is not an ethnic Kashmiri. The people of Azad Kashmir are mostly Gujjars like people of Northern Punjab in Pakistan. You know Gujjars, the same people who rule Lollywood :cheesy:

The real ethnic Kashmiris in Pakistan are those who migrated from Kashmir valley to Pakistan after indian invasion of Kashmir in 1948. They mostly live in Punjab Province of Pakistan, especially in Lahore, like Nawaz Sharif and his family. Their surnames are usually Khawajas and Buts, not Choudrys. Choudrys are Punjabis.

Here is an ethnic Kashmiri Muslim telling her story how she and her family escaped to Pakistan after the indian invasion of Kashmir Valley in 1948. There are many of these people living in Punjab Province of Pakistan.

My dear friend that is what i am trying to say...you can wish but can't do anything about it...The more you will keep thinking that way the more problems you will create for yourself...3 wars have been fought and every trick in the book have been tried....You want to keep trying then good luck but logically that is a lost case...

Also honestly speaking this is a myth that you want Kashmir to be settled as per wishes of people of Kashmir....Kashmir has a strategic importance...Imagine Kashmir as a separate country and you loosing water rights...connectivity with China etc etc....Both India and Pakistan cannot afford to loose Kashmir...It has strategic importance and that is a fact my friend...

You are right, when your full fledge force could not anything for the past 60 years, what 'our wish' can do??

I can't see it- both countries bitterly claim it as their own and both are stubborn as the other and there is little to no public support for accession to other. But the state is,unofficially, two very different states with the Indian side being far more prosperous than the Pakistani and far more open. Also as the J&K people on the Indian side are Indian citizens they have much greater privileges offered to them in the sense of Indian economic development VS Pakistani economic development.

@All Pakistani members, why don't you consider voting in NWFP for Pashtuns and Balochistan for Baloch? Because Afghanistan doesn't recognise Durand line so that area is disputed as well.

Too much national pride is attached to the whole Kashmir issue on both sides, no country would let it go that easily.

So it's better to recognise current line of control as an international border and move on.

Really?

Merger with Pakistan?

The Writer is Head Diplomatic Committee of Kashmir National Party, political analyst and author of many books and booklets.
Let us look how elections are managed in Azad Kashmir. The Assembly has total of 49 seats. Elections are held on 41 seats, 29 seats in Azad Kashmir with 12 seats spread over in Pakistan and reserved for Kashmir migrants. These 12 seats are always in hands of those who control Azad Kashmir and ‘reward’ to the parties of their choice. 5 seats are reserved for women and are shared according to party strength in the Assembly – generally 3 goes to the party with majority of seats. 1 seat for Overseas Kashmiris, sold to the highest bidder, 1 seat for technocrats and 1 seat for religious scholars.

Actual contest takes place on 29 seats in Azad Kashmir. ......

What, you are telling me 12 seats are decided without any poll. What kind of democracy is this, by the way using the word Azad means nothing. There is nothing in Azad Kashmir that can be called Azad.

Yes, Independence from the ILLEGAL OCCUPATION of india-----and merger with Pakistan, ONLY IF our Kashmiri brothers want it. We will welcome them with open heart and open arms.

Pakistan is against any illegal occupation unlike india, who also illegally and forcefully occupied Manavadar, Junagadh and Hyderabad during/after partition of British india.
you can have them , only the people not land

No we have not forgotten-
Let us finish the current engagement we are in and then all the focus will revert back to Kashmir- like old days-

Then I guess its good that Pakistan remains in its current state because if your only goal after coming back is to again continue with what you did in Kashmir and India then I pray that never happens, the horror of the 80's and 90's is still fresh in our minds, keep in mind this time we will give it back to you with Interest.

what about kashmir??

its integral part of india...like always it used to be..

Pakistan & Pakistanis should not forget J&K but not for the reasons that are often put forth - being brothers, J&K being in our blood etc etc.

Almost every drop of water that flows through the rivers of Pakistan either originates or passes thru J&K. There are exceptions in form of Rivers Dasht,Nal,Zhob, lora, Hub , Swat etc.

This is the reason J&K must be uppermost in Pakistani minds.

How they wish to proceed further is for them to decide after analysis of what has been done so far since 47 and how effective it has been to change anything on ground is something to ponder over.

Glad to know that Pakistanis have not forgotten yet, but may be Kashmiris have lost their spirit and morale. They would need serious effort if they are interested.
What you say as Kashmiris losing their spirit and morale, I call it them realizing the truth. Also, we are putting in serious effort as we are interested. We love Kashmiris and Kashmir.
On the other hand, if you are so interested, why don't you put in some "serious effort" and join them.
