Uhm... and how exactly do thieving politicians relate to non resident Indians? Oh wait never mind. That's the exit route isn't it. Go off on a tangent and completely divert your opponent from your original point.

He asked me if India was being successful, and I gave my opinion: no.

That would show that you and those 20 co-workers (not sure what is your station though) don't know too much about these things. Frog in the well, may be.

Hypothetical. I don't know and I don't care.

This has nothing to do with the fact that Indian financial software is powering a lot of banks across the world. That's all that I mentioned.

You said US/Europe not Africa and you got busted.

Are you geographically challenged as well?

Can't you see the dots in Europe and USA in that map?

If at all, I neglected to mention Asia/Africa/Australia/Central America/Latin America.

Pretty much covers all continents with known human populations!

There seem to be some customers in China as well. ;)

I've never worked backoffice troll. And the main data centers are in New Jersey. You know nothing. Really.

ROFL are you really on a war path of being stuck on stupid! jersey is not even listed on top 5 data centers in the US.

Didn't you know ? Credit Suisse is based in Africa

Credit Suisse: Treasury Solutions, Foreign Exchange FX Trading

Oh noo - dont give him Africa example!

The most common slur against black people in Chinese seems worse than that used for white people – “black ghost” vs. “old ghost”. Many people in China also assume that if you are black, you have very little money.

If you are black, many people from China will perceive you as African. If you are not, you will have to repeatedly explain that you are from another country.

There are 7,000 banks, bank holding company and thrifts in the US. Having one red dot on the west coast doesn't really mean Finacle is powering the US banking system. One out of 7,000 means nothing. It's probably some Indian subsidiary. Bank of China is in New York. They are probably using some Chinese software like Finacle too. Does that mean Chinese financial software is powering the US banking industry ??? No, it doesn't. Busted.

I thought we were talking about banks, not amazon.com.
For banks in the US, it's New Jersey and not your stupid west coast theory.

You are hopeless. You said the red dot is on the west coast because that's where bank data centers are, the data centers for most big US banks and stock exchanges are all in New Jersey. That's right New Jersey. After 9/11 all the banks move data centers to New Jersey. Headquarters is still in New York. Why is this so hard to grasp??

Now get me a cherry Slurpee !!

Till the September 11, companies just paid lip service to the Disaster recovery plans.

Even now, many of the firms have created the plans, but how effectively these plans will be put to action has to be seen when disaster strikes.

One of the ways to recover from disasters is by leveraging the Internet.

Some of the points that the companies can consider are:

1.Avoid Concentration of Work - have more offices scaterred,

2.Multilocational Data Mirroring across countries andContinents,

3.Outsource to multiple vendors across Continents
so that risk of business disruption is minimised - possibility of shifting work across the vendors

4. Store your sensitive information at locations less prone to disasters - especially man made,

Create a checklist of all the possible disasters that can strike, and then work out how each of the possiblity will be handled.

There are cases wherein protection from a Disaster maybe insufficient to tackle another -

In case of one company, the information backup was kept in the form of CDs and stored in the same premises in Fire Proof Vaults. It can save you from fire, but in case of an earthquake, the protection may be inadequate
