These types of events are organized to numb and densitize the population from the bitter reality fomenting inside them. It's a very useful tactic to suppress the citizens by way of distracting them from a reality in which they may otherwise act against the state. It prevents them from having time to contemplate and/or employ any meaningful action.
A very good example of it occurred recently in Pakistan when IK was removed from power in April, 2022 (probably due to his anti-Western stance) which was shortly followed up by a historic 8-match cricket series in Pakistan by the visiting team England who hadn't stepped in the country in 17 years.
When the state commits ill actions, the citizens become exasperated. And when that anxiety is left unchecked, it builds up into a furious uprising, motivating the society to challenge the state. It happens so frequently in the US and the Western world, but because their entertainment and drug industries are so proliferating, it changes nothing. People are upset but too demotivated to make a change; after some time, they forget.

Egypt has been maintaining that strict stance of not letting anyone in, be it injured Palestinian in ambulances or refugees trying to flee the bombardment. My comment was a general one on their overall stance.
