Pakistan economy is on the verge of collapse: Financial Times

When encountering problems, we should think more about the root causes of Pakistan's economic difficulties. I think it is the lack of export-earning products and the lack of internationally competitive manufacturing. In the short term, the solution is to reduce imports, reduce the use of dollars, and attract investment. Finally, diplomatic efforts. The key is that in the long run, the solution to the problem is to attract investment, introduce technology, encourage exports, vigorously develop the manufacturing industry, and strive to meet the needs of the manufacturing industry for electricity, roads, and water. To provide a safe, stable, transparent and efficient environment for investment, what Pakistan needs most now is a change of mind, that is unity, firmness, self-confidence and courage.

Reduce excessive defense expenditures, reduce arms imports, introduce technology and give priority to the development of its own drones. is also worth considering

confidence may not be able to succeed, and those who do not have self-confidence will not help the country and will only suffer a crushing defeat.

Talking of which, I have been surprised by the extreme strangeness of behavior of the finance minister Dar. The country is on the verge of economic collapse, and he posts a verse on his twitter. I have been visiting his Twitter for a few months and NOT ONCE has there been any policy, position paper, discussion, white paper. Nothing. But plenty of prayer requests and beseeching the divinity to intercede. We would be shocked if we had a financial crisis and our Fed Chairman or Treasury Secretary resorted to posting prayer requests for divine intervention. I don't see this issue mentioned at all. This obviously shows he is genuinely clueless and has lost his marbles.

Yes this is truly bizarre but unfortunately majority of Pakistanis have this mindset. Thats why I mentioned rigid backwardness. It cannot be cured until they run the full circle and learn all the painful lessons.

Are most people in leadership in government fatalists like this? Why bother since God does all the difficult thinking for us. I have seen Imran Khan lean a bit heavily on the almighty; Is he also a fatalist?

Some DHA development, more real estate business will revive the economy as per their thoughts.

It's an engineered and manufactured collapse, on the whims of the power drunks.

pakistan is confident "iron brother" china will bail it out.

china is the solution to all pakistani problems. just ask anyone in pdf.

I never said chinese will bail you out.

I said pakistanis "believe" chinese will bail them out.
I have read more than one seemingly intelligent author write "Pakistan will never be allowed to default like Sri Lanka, because it has nukes". I always wondered how this person's neurons are wired to think destructive weapons are an insurance against financial mismanagement. Emphasis on 'allowed' as in the elastic restraint parents use on pets/children while going for walk.

But truth is US WILL bail pakistan out. Its only a matter of time. And Nukes have something to do with that.

Maybe US will denuclearize pakistan before bailing them out, but I somehow doubt that. But everything is possible if there is political will.

Not sure where you get information (about U.S.). Not one administration official, Senator or Representative has made any statement about Pakistan in a long time. The last loose talk was from Biden, and it can be safely ignored. Our Treasury Secretary is visiting Africa, just to show where this administration's priorities lie.

I don't care what US "says", I only look at what US "does".

US helped pakistan get out of "FATF".

It will help pakistan get out of this mess too. Do you want to take a bet ?

Cost free operation. probably deserved too. Pakistan has done its best anyway. There is no more blood in the turnip.

By any means possible sans cash infusion. Any bill to help directly has zero chance of even getting out of subcommittee, let alone the House or Senate.
