China to welcome Pakistan for collaboration in aerospace industry

Thank God Turkey is a flightless bird. We never have to worry about a fancy name for our astronauts.

By that logic, Pakistan should not be a nuclear weapons state. Yet against impossible odds we are. If we can do that then we can do this more easily especially with billions of investment poring in from China. Not to mention the clandestine TOT of advanced weapons systems from China to Pakistan that is currently going on.

It's not always money that is required for progress in the space business. What is required is :

1. Ambition.

2. Investment of time and resources to work on that ambition.

3. The right people.

But what is the extent of the news in the OP ?? Is this just for sending satellites or is there a joint manned program ??

This should have been done long ago, right?? The first Chinese cosmonaut went up in 2003 15 years ago.

Bhai as far as I am concerned it is an absolute travesty that us Pakistanis have not launched our own SLV when we have had more than the requisite capabilities to achieve such an objective, we could have easily been the first Muslim nation to launch a satellite into space on our own rocket considering the fact that in 1962 we were only one of ten nations to launch a suborbital rocket (Rehbar-I two-staged Solid-fuel rocket), a feat that India had not then achieved, it has been sheer unforgivable negligence by each and every administration to neglect SUPARCO which could have been the NASA of the Muslim world, perhaps this new PTI government will make a difference with this new collaboration with China which I believe will be limited to the development and launch of satellites on Chinese SLVs.Kudos bhai

Well malaysias angkasawan isnt rreally a cosmonaut as he didnt do anything useful.

I see him as a space tourist that came together as a packaged free ride to iss for buying su-30mkm lol

The civilian economy tech helps the military tech sector and vice-versa to some extent.

Turkey is only doing well in the military sector as it developed it's civilian economy.

The defence technology drives vendor development and introduces a lot of high techs into the civilian sphere. For example, ball point and gel pens were basically developed for astronauts in to write in the space and NASA spent a lot of money in doing that but today everyone uses them. Internet was developed by DAARPA. Many features from military vehicles make their way into normal cars and vehicles like central pressure regulation systems for tyres, bullet proofing etc. USA earns a lot by selling weapons.
Pakistan also earns from defence exports and more than any other country in South Asia.

Where does the defence technology come from?
It of course comes from the overall technological development of the civilian economy.

As an example, no matter how much money the Soviets threw into military tech, they were nearly always behind the West in defence tech, as they never had the base in the civilian tech to develop the military tech at the same level as the West.

Pakistan cannot have a 3rd world economy and a 1st world military industry - it simply does not work that way.

Dude, Pakistan was a much larger country in 1962.
After 1971, it was cut in half and so did not have the same resources anymore.
