PESHAWAR: Religious leader Maulana Ismail Darvesh was gunned down with his guard at the Phandu area of the metropolis on Thursday night, police informed Geo News.

The law enforcement authority said that the motorcyclists opened fire at the vehicle of the religious leader.

The deceased succumbed to his bullet wounds before reaching the hospital for immediate medical treatment, said a spokesperson of Lady Reading Hospital.
