Saudi Arabia ‘joining CPEC to make Gwadar an oil city’

Oil Cargos for which country? China?
Isnt it tremendously more expensive to transport liquids (especially such high volumes) over land than sea? Perhaps this will cater the areas of china bordering central asia? But you would think those areas would have access to Russian and Central Asian oil already.
So seems more strategic than practical.

Anyways, Ill let the Chinese or Pakistani members explain the significance of this before I comment further.

As some others have alluded to, the primary idea is to provide China with an alternative source for oil and gas imports. China already has a pipeline connecting it to Kazakhstan, so the idea that connecting a pipeline to its sparesly populated western region is fantastical is not true. Another one from Pakistan ensures it can attain Middle Eastern oil much faster and cheaper. Right now the bulk of its imports cross the Straits of Malacca, where the US navy enjoys a strong position. Chinas oil independence would therefore increase via the existence of alternative routes. (https://www.thenews.com.pk/latest/302371-pakistan-china-ink-mou-on-gas-pipeline-refinery). Of course Pakistan does not possess the funds to undertake such a project. Saudi and China would have to chip in but the deal would probably require China to purchase at least a certain percentage of its oil via this route from Saudi, for the latter to be interested.

There is also a potential at some point in the future, if Afghanistan somewhat stablilizes ,for Central Asian countries to use Pakistani ports as an outlet from which to export their vast oil and gas reserves to markets far beyond the region (Australia, South Africa, Latin America etc).

I got the world map memorized. We do battle plans every weekend . i know my stuff. ;)

Did we loose our southern provinces or arabian sea by any chance? Do let me know if i missed a headline

So how all paths to central Asia trade only go thru Pakistan? dont answer that please. just look up a map.

I think it's all fallacy, China is building massive pipelines in central Asia and Russia for it's needs.

As of now China is only giving us loans to build roads that may never be utilized at full potential, massive trade deficit and much needed investment in power sectors which is other headache causing more circular debt bcoz of our incompetence.

Stop dreams for game changers and look to increase export.

ha ever been to central asia?
Yes. My knowledge of them is a bit too much unfortunately. A messed up athiest, second rate Russkies Mongs is what they are. You know how they say Islamabad is half hour from Pakistan well these people think they are 5 minutes from mother Russia.

What is missing from this is that China has its own reserves in the western China. Western China's Population is spare and consumption is unlikely to rely on imports.

Oil flowing thru Gwadar to China is a non starter.

If a pipeline were to be build , it would only be to supply oil and gas to India from Central Asia.

All the pipelines want to do is reach India. , If they wont go thru Pakistan, They will go thru Llhasa

I disagree, mate. Your analogy with Kazak oil and Gulf oil does not fit*. Don't have time to explain why I think so. But I will say if it indeed was strategic neccessity for China the oil pipeline would have already been built.

*Look at the sparsely populated regions of Western China. Look how close Kazak oil is. Now compare how far the Gulf is from the same region.

I already said . "thru Llhasa" central Asia connects if Pakistan keeps insisting on being a standout state.
Iran can ship . it costs about the same as pipe line for such a short distance.

lasha is in China.

yes.

money is king.
india has no direct route to afghanistan, iran or central asia. it has to depend on china or Pakistan. which are both most allied of allies. i think india should abandon the west and get inline with BRI and pakistan. they and us can achive alot more with west out of the picture. otherwise there is no way for india to have linkages with afghanistan iran or central asian republic or russia. which pakistan and china enjoy.

Plus you can just write China instead of an area within china.

We'll see what happens

YOu know India IS included in BRI? not in CPEC tho

We'll see what happens
its happening already since 3 years now. i wonder what will change. unless indian attitude changes nothing will change.

i think u might just be a troll. i dont have time for this shit. its already happening.

india has no linakge with BRI as yet. it is proposed yes. and i hope to God Almighty that india comes onboard. that would be best for the region. and bad for United states.

CPEC is a component of BRI, everything that is CPEC is BRI, but everything that is BRI a lot more than just CPEC, India is already in BRI.

CBIC is the name of that part.
