HAL offers 40 more Sukhoi-30s at one-third Rafale’s cost

Oh and what makes u think that??
Please elaborate.
At present brahMos-A have 450 km range, it will be launched before such contestant in the air. If its a long range mission then it will need escort which will be Su-30s with PESA radar anyway. BrahMos-A is good for deterrence though.

Brahmos is not for air to air superiority. Its for deep missions.
There is no comparison on importance of brahmos-a negating the need for a better radar in a jet.Its nothing but a poor planning.
The RFI for MMRCA was specific that an aesa should be there, same goes for the mk1a and mk2.The advantages are huge.

Having mki with a poor radar is same as having large army with poor quality guns...ooops,INSAS....

And who said"Brahmos is for air to air superiority."

Our enemy is not that advance anyway, no aesa whatsoever. No point to discuss this here anyway.

Lol INSAS is poor quality?? Stop watching media porns, INSAS is old not poor quality. People start criticizing without prior knowledge.

So chinese have no aesa?
Ignorant statement........sad really.Infact its laughable what u just said.

Its no secret what INSAS is,no point in defending it.It was good in early 2000's maybe just like Bars PESA,not anymore. If u like to be an ostrich,u sure can though.

You have to pick your enemies and fights that you can win.

India is no match to Chinese. Hence India does not consider China as an enemy.

Currently, India considers only Pakistan as its enemy but this may not last long.

Once Pakistan is more powerful than India, India would then start considering Maldives as its enemy.

Stop quoting me with stupid statements.

I already said its good for deterrence, China is not an enemy unless our deterrence is weak.
I'm not a fan of BrahMos-A i don't see its benefits beside deterrence.

Go ask army or veterans who had played with INSAS so far i got positive responses though i don't expect you to get that.

Nope....its already obsolete vs any 5 th generation considering the price point.
Almost all chinese and even pakistani fighters will be sporting aesas in next 5-10 years so stealth will be very crucial at that point.
I have no problem with rafale if we had more money,we simply don't.The premise of rafale was to fight chinese and not pakistanis and for that its a bad choice simply.

Stealth is only crucial if its all aspect,a half stealthy fighter is too unreliable for the massive price tag it comes with.Because it can't enter deep into enemy territory without its exposed rear getting detected by ground radars.PAF doesn't have money for AESAs on large numbers of fighters, its using jf-17s with metal body and obsolete mechanical radar and still producing them, until recently these aircraft didn't even have HOBS and HMS or proper ECM.
The chinese j-20 might be a problem, but its not all aspect stealth with canards and exposed engines and rear, means our ground radars will be able to pick it if it ventures deep into our territory and with s-400 and meteor we can take care of it.With no supercruise and exposed engines the IRST trackers should be able to pick them out at BVR distances.Right now there is no 5th gen option after failure of FGFA unless you go f-35 which i think we should.

U are missing the point here.I am mere speculating about allocation of the resources.
If u want an aesa in a jaguar and are spending huge bucks for it,u want it in a point defence fighter like mk1 then its criminal and stupid to delay that on big frontline fighters like mki and mig-29k.......tejas or jags are not gonna establish air superiority for us and with huge rcs of both mki and mig, its imperative that we get the first lock.

Regarding the aesa on jf-17.......its a matter of another 5-7 years, eventually all fighters will be upgraded.

On J-20 stealth,it has better stealth features than pakfa atleast on paper and probably even F-35 except those canards.Still we are at massive disadvantage if at all there is an all out war.Never count the chinese out, they have beaten russians and most of the europeans in electronics already and its a matter of time this translates into the defence sector(probably already has).

failure of FGFA unless you go f-35 which i think we should

FGFA was always a doomed idea when we dont want to pay for development.
No other 5 th gen has 2 pilots operation which we wanted.Plus needless stipulations on tot when its perfectly clear there is a limit to the tot.
Now it will be off the shelf purchase and make in india just like mki. There is no other option and rafale cannot fill the su-57 role especially after j-20 and maybe a future j-31.
