Comprehensive plan chalked out for rehabilitation, reconstruction of affected areas: Tareen

MANSEHRA, Oct 27 (APP): Federal Minister for Industries and Productions Jehangir Khan Tareen has said the government has chalked up a comprehensive plan for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the affected areas.

He said this while talking to the earthquake affectees during his visit to the quake hit areas of Batgram, Chattar Plain, Terband and Oghi to review the relief activities being carried out by the government, NGOs and donor agencies.

He was accompanied by the Ministerial Relief Committee. The committee comprised Minister for Industries, Production and Special Initiatives, Jahangir Khan Tareen, Minister for Tourism, Ghazi Ghulab Jamal and State Ministers, Ishaq Khan Khakwani and Malik Amin Aslam visited these areas on Wednesday and Thursday.

The minister said the local companies would provide about three hundred thousand tents soon for the accommodation of quake survivors.

Jahangir Tareen said as huge funds are needed for the reconstruction work, in this regard, world community, international organizations have been asked for help for the early rehabilitation of quake survivors adding that the government is working with full devotion.

He lauded the government efforts, people of the country and the international community for their timely help for the earthquake survivors.

Tareen said our nation has showed sense of responsibility and this realization is needed to continue.

However, he lauded the role of Media persons who highlighted the disaster of natural calamity to the world.

The tourism, the Minister said is the biggest opportunity in the quake-hit areas which had badly damaged due to the calamity, adding that needs immediate attention to revive the tourism in these areas.

He appealed the business community to come forward in reviving the tourism sector and other infrastructures so that job opportunities could be created for the people of the affected areas. He said the government would fully support in the reconstruction and rehabilitation work, besides providing capital for cottage industry.

He, however said that the government has already initiated steps while establishing temporary schools in the quake-hit areas.

The minister said that the government is building the structures raised with the use of steel for the affected areas. He said in Balakot district five schools have been established so far while twenty more schools would be completed during the next month.

He said the provincial government is also establishing tentage schools so that the educational year could be completed properly.

He also appealed to the international community, businessmen the general public to continue their support for relief and rehabilitation of the affected people.

He said, the government is striving to restore the necessary infrastructure such as roads, electricity, telephone, water supply systems etc. in the quake hit areas.

The ministerial team also visited tent villages established by the federal government in collaboration with various non-governmental agencies and relief organizations.

The committee members on this occasion told the people that the government is making all out efforts for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the affected areas.
