Iraq to buy 12 JF-17 Thunder jets from Pakistan

Iraq wont buy any JF-17s. they want a mix of F-16s and Rafale fighters and Bayraktar TB2s from turkey for the air force. and recently they signed a maintenance deal with USA and south Korea to support it's fleet of F-16s and T-50s.

JF-17s deal is only talks and rumors by media, no deal signing or payments were paid for the JF-17s, they didn't even go for modern mig-29s when Russia offered to sell it to them with cheap prices.
You will be slapping your face soon with such reply. Buying JF-17 is more of an insurance and diversify the weapon source. Christian western weapon are highly politicalized and with many strings. Russia Mig-29 are too maintenance extensive.

That makes JF-17 ideal to build up r/s with China, Pakistan while maintenance several leverage against Western in case of blackmail.

Iraq armed forces has extensive usage of CH-4 UCAV against daesh and a big reason why they managed to defeat and drive away the ISIS from Mosul. They have good experience with Chinese weapon.

This guy also said Iraq is buying Rafale, TB2, Koral system, S-400. We've been hearing this shit since 2016.
But this time is real becos Iraq Air force chief has previously visit Pakistan quite recently.

We signed a contract with a Pakistani company to purchase aircraft capable of facing the marches.
Iraqi Defense Minister Jumaa Inad in a #private_interview with Al-Arabiya.

He did not say 'aircraft'.

He said Iraq ordered anti-drone systems from Pakistan, and he is not referring to JF-17's in any way. But a hand-held system or something that is launched from the ground.

They visit every few years, it's not an aircraft deal. JF-17 was offered many years ago and it didn't happen.

Iraq is not buying any aircraft for some reason, despite offers of Rafale, MIG-35, Sukhoi perhaps, JF-17 etc

He did mention aircraft and currently there is no handheld anti drone system from Pakistan. Anyway, time will tell. JF-17 BLK III is just like a block bluster anticipated by many countries. Sales will come once it enter service with PAF.

He's speaking of drones, and anti-drone technologies to protect Iraqi airbases from what Iranian militias are doing.

If JF-17 was the solution for that, the F-16s etc. would already be fulfilling that role. He's not referring to JF-17s.

Alll aside; making a JF-17 scramble and fire a missile for a shitty drone... is very much a loss financially.

Pakistan makes C-RAM?

F-16 is subjected to american control which is precisely what current Iraq government want to do away with. US weapon are politicalized. You don't obey me, you will not get support for those toys.

Yes, it's an issue.

In reality Iraq wants to buy Russian Migs or Sukhois, but doesn't want the American sanctions that come with that. So they've been looking at Rafale, Jf-17 etc.

A pretext to station Pakistani Armed forces in Iraq, just like Turkey in Qatar?
there is no policy of stationing the Armed forces of Pakistan anywhere in the world other than peace mission with UN umbrella.

What you are speaking is not possible otherwise we might had seen deployment of Pakistani forces in Yemen. we can help by training we can sale arms but would never participate in conflicts of other countries within their borders or against any other country.
