Pak inducts missile craft into naval service: Report

London, May 9: Pakistan Navy has commissioned into service two new fast attack missile craft constructed locally.

Marsun shipyard in Thailand provided technical support to Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KSEW), which constructed the craft, based on a modified German design, The Jane's Defence Weekly reported today.

The Jurrat and Quwwat craft were inducted into service on February 24, although this has only now been made public, it said.

They are similar in design to the Jalalat and Shujaat, built by KSEW with Chinese assistance in the late 1990s.

The two older vessels have a full-load displacement of 185 tonnes while the newer ones displace 250 tonnes. The two new missile craft have a maximum speed of 32 kt at full load displacement of 250 tonnes and 30 kt at half-load displacement of 225 tonnes, with endurance of some 1,700 nautical miles at 15 kt, the report said.
