While appetite and demand for energy are increasing all over the world, not many nations can generate enough electricity. The world’s largest producer of power is indeed China.

China, the world’s second-fastest growing major economy after India, produced a gigantic 6,015 terrawatt hour (TWh) of power. The United States is the world’s second-largest producer of electricity, according to IBEF .

With a production of 1,423 BU in FY 2016, India was the third largest producer and the third largest consumer of electricity in the world, behind China (6,015 BU) and the United States (4,327 BU). The Indian Government wants to add capacity of around 100 GW by 2022.

India almost tripled its production since 2008. From 120GW to almost 350 GW. If we continue the same trend should take over the US in the next 10-15 years.

Also, well done China to take the lead. China is now at the forefront of renewable energy and nuclear energy growth and research.

Also Canada is producing 7 most electricity in the world. For a nation with a population of 35 million. That is hugeeee. :cheesy:

Ah, you patriotic Canadians.

One gets the imagery of your spending all your leisure hours on a treadmill, generating electricity with every footfall.

Commitment to the national weal.

Hydro is a good export. About 3 billion CAD was exported in 2016 to the USA.

A lot more could be exported (its crazy if you look at how much untapped hydro Canada still has) if there was a feasible economic way to transmit to those markets. Maybe when we finally achieve the energy storage densities + low cost needed for it down the road.

Canadian energy exports are over 100 Billion. In future this will only rise. We are in a good place my friend.

I'm talking specifically hydro, not the mass amounts of fossil fuel we export too.
I highly doubt Canada will build more hydro power plants in the future. Canada's focus now is now on other sources of energy. But its true we have huggee untapped hydro sources.
