World's best assault rifle

There is no best gun. Each gun has its advantages and disadvantages in every situation. Having said that. This doesn't mean there are first class quality weapons and second class quality weapons. I would choose any gun above a Chinese made gun everyday. Reliability is the most important factor of a gun.

Battle Rifle fire heavier round (7.62) and are accurate at longer ranges, though the draw back is that they are not optimal at full auto because of recoil, also these rifles are heavier and also larger compared to assault rifles. Assault rifles primarily fire (5.56) rounds which are smaller and lighter, hence produce less recoil and can be fired in full auto with much ease, though they suffer from lack of range and stopping power compared that of the 7.62 rounds.

Actually 7.62 loses out to 5.56 beyond 300 yards or so.

Dragunov shoots 1,000 meters.

As @Beast mentioned it is a sniper rifle which shoots I belive 7.62X54r rounds. I shot 7.62X54R yellow tipped steel core from my 1937 Mosin Nagant. It went through 1/4" steel targets like warm knife through butter at 100 yards. These surplus Russian rounds were manufactured in 1954 !!!!

Israeli Tavor is an assault rifle with superior range to say G-3 and many other battle rifles.

The AUG was going to become the standard rifle of the Saudi Military, but it failed miserably in trials and in combat tests, so the focus shifted to the G-36. The G-36 proved to be effective in light skirmish situations, and the main users of it the border guards cite it for its accuracy over their previous Standard Assault Rifle the AKM.

Currently the Standard Assault Rifle of the Saudi Military is the AK-74M while Al-Kharj Light Weapons finishes its teased R&D assault rifle project.
