This is world cup son, I get that Pakistanis dont understand football as well. But this the biggest sportinf event in the world. People are free to support, enjoy the beautiful game. Unlike you lot we aren’t narrow minded in football.

Dont tell me you never heard of Paks supporting any football teams? Seems like very abnormal.

Maybe you can never reach our level of passion and love for football teams (Brazil and Argentina). If you didn’t know unlike cricket, football is the most beautiful game and people are allowed to support, show love for another nation. As long as it’s not for any other south asian nations which no one will ever qualify for worldcup from, I’m fine. Brazil and Argentina always had big support in Bangladesh. In fact there’s more Argentina fans in Bangladesh than maybe in Argentina!

Bangladeshis always loved football more, and football is the number one sport, Bengalis take football more passionate especially during world cup as Brazil and Argentina come up.

Football is followed passionately here but nobody kills each other with a machete over two foreign teams. Unlike BD , Pakistan has a rich history in revolutionizing Squash , Hockey and Cricket so we dont feel hacking each other to death because one likes argentina more than brazil.

রাজধানীর কাফরুলে গলায় দড়ি দিয়ে জাহিদুল ইসলাম জালাল (৩৫) নামে এক আর্জেন্টিনা সমর্থক আত্মহত্যা করেছে বলে খবর পাওয়া গেছে।

বৃহস্পতিবার (২১ জুন) দিবাগত রাতে কাফরুল থানার ইব্রাহিমপুর এলাকায় এ ঘটনা ঘটে। নিহত জাহিদুল ইব্রাহিমপুরের বাসিন্দা বলে জানা গেছে।

এ বিষয়ে কাফরুল থানার এসআই মোজাম্মেল বিডি২৪লাইভকে বলেন, গতকাল রাতে আর্জেন্টিনার খেলা দেখে সবাই যখন ঘুমিয়ে পড়েন তখন তিনি গলায় দড়ি দিয়ে আত্মহত্যা করেন।

তিনি আরও বলেন, আর্জেন্টিনা হারার পর মনের কষ্টে হয়তোবা তিনি এ কাজ করেছেন। খবর পেয়ে আমরা তার মরদেহ উদ্ধার করে সকালে ময়নাতদন্তের জন্য হাসপাতালের মর্গে পাঠিয়েছি।

উল্লেখ্য, গতকাল রাতে ক্রোয়েশিয়ার কাছে ৩-০ গোলে লজ্জাজনকভাবে হেরে যায় মেসির আর্জেন্টিনা। এই হারের কারণে বিশ্বকাপ থেকে অনেকটাই ছিটকে গেছে সাম্পাওলি শিষ্যরা।

যদিও বিশ্বকাপ শুরুটা ভালো করতে পারেনি আর্জেন্টিনা। নিজেদের প্রথম ম্যাচে দুর্বল আইসল্যান্ডের বিপক্ষে ১-১ গোলের ড্র নিয়ে সন্তুষ্ট থাকতে হয় দুইবারের বিশ্বচ্যাম্পিয়নদের। ওই ম্যাচে পেনাল্টি মিস করে ব্যাপক সমালোচনার মুখে পড়েছেন লিওনেল মেসি।

ফলে দ্বিতীয় রাউন্ডে উঠতে হলে ক্রোয়েশিয়ার বিপক্ষে জয় দরকার ছিল আর্জেন্টিনার। ম্যাচটি নিয়ে ফুটবলপ্রেমীদের মধ্যে ছিলো চরম উত্তেজনা। বিশেষ করে আর্জেন্টাইন সমর্থকদের মাঝে। যদিও মনেরকষ্টে অনেকে খেলা শেষ হওয়ার আগেই টিভির সামনে থেকে চুপচাপ চলে যান। আবার অনেকে নিজের টিভি ভেঙে ক্ষোভ প্রকাশ করেছেন। এ এক ভিন্ন চিত্র!

ক্রোয়েশিয়ার কাছে ৩-০ গোলে হেরে বিশ্বকাপের প্রথম পর্ব থেকেই বিদায় শঙ্কা জেগে উঠেছে আর্জেন্টিনার। এ যেন কোনোভাবে মেনে নিতে পারছে না সমর্থকরা। গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ম্যাচে খেলতে নেমে আর্জেন্টাইনরা মাঠে দাঁড়াতেই পারেনি।

যদিও ম্যাচের প্রথমার্ধে গোল না হলেও দ্বিতীয়ার্ধের শুরুতেই ৫৩ মিনিটে ক্রোয়েশিয়াকে এগিয়ে দেন এ্যান্টে রেবিচ। এ্যান্টে রেবিচের পর দ্বিতীয় গোলটি করেন লুকা মড্রিচ। শেষ মুহূর্তে আরেকটি গোল করে মেসিদের কাঁদিয়ে নক আউট পর্বে নিশ্চিত করে ক্রোয়েশিয়া। এরই মধ্যে দিয়ে বিশ্বকাপের প্রথম পর্ব থেকেই বিদায় শঙ্কা জেগে উঠেছে আর্জেন্টিনার।

যে মেসির জাদু দেখার জন্য অপেক্ষা করছিল সারাবিশ্ব, সেই মেসিই পুরো খেলায় ছিলেন জাদুহীন। কোন চমকই দেখাতে পারেননি তিনি। শেষ পর্যন্ত ক্রোয়েশিয়ার সাথে হেরে ভক্তদের কাঁদিয়ে মাঠ ছাড়লেন বিশ্বের সেরা ফুটবলার মেসি।

ফিফা র‌্যাঙ্কিংয়ে পঞ্চম স্থানে আর্জেন্টিনা। অন্যদিকে ক্রোয়েশিয়া ২০ নম্বরে। এর আগে ৪ বার মুখোমুখি হয়েছিল দুই দল। যার মধ্যে দুইটিতেই জিতেছে আর্জেন্টিনা। ক্রোয়েশিয়া জিতেছে একটিতে। বাকি ম্যাচ ড্র হয়েছিল। বিশ্বকাপে একবারই মুখোমুখি হয়েছিল দুই দল। সেটি ১৯৯৮ সালে—গ্রুপপর্বে। সেই ম্যাচটিতে ১-০ গোলে জয় পেয়েছিল আর্জেন্টিনা। কিন্তু এবার যেন সেই মধুর প্রতিশোধ নিল ক্রোয়েশিয়া।
