Poor moderation, @Nilgiri posts facts, numbers and figures, Few cry babies here when they cannot really respond in kind resort to attack his ethnicity (Tamil) religion (Hindu) and nationality (Indian).. And when responded in kind complains to the moderators often conveniently playing the religious brotherhood card.. Yes i'm expecting a ban for this post because i myself does'nt fall in to that "Category" PDF seems to favor these days, But this had to be said

Come on here.

You know that he comes on this sub-forum mainly to troll - he even admits that he does it for entertainment value.

He even put up some "facts" about ventilator capacity in BD that did not mention the greater numbers available in the private sector, and Walton getting ready to produce far greater numbers from the proven Medtronic design. That should show anyone that he cannot stop his vendetta against BD even in the middle of this pandemic.

We can argue whether what "facts" he shows are mainly to support the vendetta he has against BD that so many BD posters clearly thinks he has, but his constant trolling is a fact. That warning was justified and long overdue.

And do not worry, I am sure that no moderator would ban you for sticking up for that guy.

I agree .I also would not call his acts as trolling , rather I would say that it's an evil act . What kind of people troll even in the pandemic time where even traditional enemies becomes ally and wish good to others ? He is the only person who can perform such nefarious act !Why some of his friends still like to overlook his evil act I have yet to understand this .

I sincerely thank , appreciate and send my kind regards to @Slav Defence for his great moderation and for this wise post . Only such strong and Impartial moderation can improve the atmosphere of this forum . will make it constructive and sane people can participate with a fresh mind .

Do you want me to post screenshots where Nilgiri admits that he only visits and posts in this subsection for trolling and entertainment?

And if I do, will you apologize and eat your words for defending a self-confessed troll and for calling it poor moderation when the accused is held accountable?

Open up a thread in GHQ and post everything what nilgiri is doing. I have nothing personal with Indians but attempt to tag Pakistani members and make them foolishly to fight with BD members is something that cannot be ignored. The readers are getting image as if Pak-BD members have something personal. If Pak members want to settle any thing then they can approach in neutral or positive env.

Never let a crisis go to waste.

It is high time to enact reforms that will set us on the path of growth for the next decade.

“Even if there is zero growth or negative growth in the next four months of this fiscal year, it won’t be a matter as the growth will still remain over 6 percent.”

Finance Minister of a nation should not be speaking in this manner. This kind of BAL mathematics defies logic and while it is aimed at domestic politics, it will negatively effect investor confidence. Restraint is the name of the game here.

"Though our industrial and service sectors might face a negative impact, but the effect is relatively less in agricultural side. Even though, due to those losses, there is no reason to say our growth will drop at a "shameful" status of 2 to 3 percent," he added.

If industrial and service sector is negatively impacted, and we can't bank on mega construction projects to boost growth then where does the growth come from in Q2, Q3 and Q4 for 6 percent? Consumption cannot sustain 6 percent growth when people have no income coming in and government is hesitant towards large scale direct cash injection into the economy. It is madness to suggest that agriculture will get us 6 percent growth. What happens if this pandemic spreads to our countryside? or we are hit with second wave and third wave of COVID?

This is no room for flexibility in this statement and there was no need to issue such over the top statements. This is a simple matter where the Finance Minister should disagree with IMF and World Bank assessment by saying Bangladesh can easily beat the 2 to 3 percent projections. This is a confident enough statement. By tagging a number (6 percent), we have cornered ourselves and we don't even know how this pandemic will play out for the rest of the year in Bangladesh and the rest of the world. This is not a supply side problem alone that we can solve by ourselves. This pandemic is hitting the demand side equally hard. People don't have incomes to buy things so we can't grow until the global economy recovers from this pandemic. In the best circumstance, we can hope for a U-shaped global recovery if there is a vaccine in 12 months.

For Bangladeshi ministers, "Under-Promise Over-Deliver" works the other way around.

I think you are getting mixed up with the actual dates that the Minister was forecasting for.

You are working on Jan 1 to Dec 31 2020, whereas the Minister meant July 1 2019 - Jun 30 2020 which is the 2019/2020 fiscal.

I think he should have just said we can aim or achieve for 6% growth rather than the bravado he has shown.

If ADB predicted this month BD can get 7.8% growth for 2019-2020 then I think 6% is very possible.

.
Yup, and as you can see some typical dweeb here is already dismissing it....because it doesnt fit in with his feelings.

Probably exactly the kind of person BBS employs on the cheap. Head nod while inflation fudging....and doesnt know basic difference in base years used by ADB (goes with govt of country) compared to WB (and why WB uses theirs).

EDIT: looks like there has been a BAL-ocracy response on predicted lines too.
Did you notice the amount of correction done to their so called "8 %" growth rate. Do people need more evidence for their inflated GDP numbers.

Why 8% was inflated? It was expected before the arrival of coronavirus. Now, some agencies predict 6% and some 2% to 3%. It all depends upon the situation in the western destinations of our export. In my opinion, it may go even negative if coronavirus continues playing havoc for a few more months in our export markets.

However, I expect a breakthrough from Oxford University research group which will start massive step by step trials on volunteers from May this year. A successful vaccine will kill the disease and business will return to normalcy throughout the world that includes BD as well.
