Women in combat roles in armed forces: Wait gets longer

Buddy, you're going by a video that's tailor made for public viewing! I've been training these girls at the OTA myself! And with a total of almost five years in two tenures at the OTA, I think I know what the heck I'm talking about!

Agreed! You can't equate them. Men and women can never be at the same level of physical fitness per se.

But I need to add, the Lady cadets are highly motivated, more responsible and have the inherent urge to come out tops. Their officer like qualities (OLQ) are as good if not better than their male counterparts.

Cheers! :pop:

Buddy,i never said that i am against women joining the armed forces. You need to understand the real issue of debate going on here.

I am not questioning their motivation, spirit or dedication i am saying that they are not biologically comparable to their male counterparts and are not suitable to be foot soldiers.

In the video it has been clearly mentioned that for a 5 km run the GCs take 24 mins while the LCs take 31 minutes and it is quite clear that they are not on par as GCs in physical parameters and judging by this it is not difficult to judge how will they perform if given a chance to serve in the Infantry.

I have already said that even the cavalry should be open to them for serving but Infantry is a different thing all together.

People who dont know about the Army will keep raising such issue just to show that the Army is equal and all..BS in my view..but you should understand the gravity of the situation having served in the OTA...you would know better than me how life is in Kashmir and the North-east.

P.S-A close relative of mine has served as an Instructor in OTA and i have even seen training and interacted with many GCs...still remeber the Officers Mess..was a good experience.

Yep! As I mentioned in my previous post, I do admit that women are not suitable for front line combat duties in fighting arms like the Infantry, Armored Corps and Artillery.

For example, even in the U.S., according to the Ground Combat Exclusion policy of the US military, Service members are eligible to be assigned to all positions for which they are qualified, except that women shall be excluded from assignment to units below the brigade level whose primary mission is to engage in direct combat on the ground.

This includes assignments to the Infantry, Special Forces and Armor. However they are permitted to join the Artillery Regiments.

Cheers!

Why don't you want women in combat roles? Israel has women on the front lines and they are doing fine, been to Israel many times and you see women soldiers every where.

I believe that Artillery,Armoured,Combat Sappers,Army Aviation should be open for women to serve.

AFAIK, women form only 2nd line troops in Israel and they patrol the relatively peaceful areas.

Yes but women in the IDF also fly copters into dangerous territory for rescue ops etc, so in a way they are on the front lines.

Pilots in the IAF too fly helos so they too can be in dangerous scenarios but that isn't an issue. The point most here are trying to make is that they are unfit for combat roles on the ground in say the infantry.
