Woman arrested and jailed in Abu Dhabi for Facebook Post

Well, I'm thinking about how I would feel being that Abu Dhabi citizen to find a photo of my car with such comment being circulated and used to mock me. Should I ignore it and forgive her without "giving a lesson"?

Islams also likes Pardoning and Forgiveness wherever possible or he can take actions with the authorities, or he can find her and give her a hug and if possible a kiss :D

Same can be said for Muslims who go and practice freely in other countries and this what comes back to bite muslims when their host countries say that even you dont get the freedoms we provide you in your own countries ! its these countries like Abu Dhabi that have to change and not the other way round.
Nobody has to change to benefit you, you either stay there or go somewhere that benefits you.

Also, Muslims (or anyone who migrate) don't go to Western countries for freedom but for a better pay or education. And even if I follow your quote, why did she go to Abu Dhabi, definitely not for the "freedom", maybe she likes being in a strict country and Western country wasn't as strict as Abu Dhabi (yes, it sounds stupid, because I used your logic)

So, Abu Dhabi has to change their rules to of legalizing incest and bestiality, to be more like "those countries"?

You Western "wannabes" are pathetic, they would make fun of you for trying to be like them.

Arabs are so concerned about their privacy but in their society personal space means nothing. People interacting with you will want to stand like 1 foot away which is uncomfortable for a lot of other societies.
It's not just privacy, Arab customs hold someone's dignity in high regards. By insulting someone, you are affecting his/her dignity and honor. Hence the harsh reaction.
Personal space is different. Standing further away means you consider the other person in low esteem. Every culture is different. The sooner we accept, the better this world will be.

You go to a country, you live by their rules. If they don't offer free speech, you don't go and practice that. Simple as that, you aren't special.

In February, Jodi Magi, 39, took a photo of a car in her apartment block that was parked across two disabled parking spaces, without any disability stickers.

She blacked out the number plate and put the photo on Facebook, drawing attention to the seemingly selfish act, but not providing any identifying details or names.

khalid,

1. "disabled parking space" is that building's rule and someone was going contrary to that.

2. she blacked out the offender's number plate before posting it on internet.

3. she was actually doing a thing of kindness.

you should be praising her instead of criticizing.

what did she write ?

she was pointing to someone doing a unkind thing and the offender was going against the building's rules... the foolish court took action against her for doing the right thing... she is australian and the australian embassy did not help her... she is being victimized for doing the right thing.

Be aware of UAE privacy laws when posting Facebook content, TRA warns

Posting content about other people on Facebook without their consent could be breaking the law, regulators warn.
To help social-media users stay within the boundaries of law and the site’s own privacy policies, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, or TRA, has published a set of guidelines.

“Users should not tag other users without their consent,” the guide says. “Users should be aware of the use of photographs and videos of other people without consent.

1. she did not name anyone... she blacked out the offender's number plate in the photo.

2. she was pointing to a offense and doing the right thing... did the offender think about others before parking his car haphazardly??

in fact, you should necessarily be feeling guilty by doing a wrong thing, parking car across "disabled parking space"... if you teach her a lesson, she should be the one deciding to forgive you or not, more so because she had blacked out your number plate in the photo.

She should know that they don't like being criticized by foreigners, especially in their own country.

she would presume that since she is doing good, her efforts will be utilized... but they seem to be idiots, harassing her for doing what a honest person should be doing.

Exactly, thus you just supported my claim that she didn't know that every place aren't the same and should have had a better knowledge of the country she residing in.

in that case, people will simply think twice before going to uae or even mass boycott it.

I'm just trying to see from that Abu Dhabi citizen's point of view. I would be like "okay...my bad, I know that I shouldnt parked my car there but I had too...at least nobody knew that it was mine coz she blackened its plate" (as an Indonesian).

But as an Arab (was it he or she?) might feel soooooo humiliated, as a Muslim with high pride, such public post by (maybe s/he thought) a non-Muslim foreigner might feel like huge insult and unforgivable. I thought even I would get similar "punishment" eventhough I'm a Muslim too (but not Abu Dhabi citizen).

Lesson learned: Whenever in Abu Dhabi (or any Arab countries) as foreigner, never say/write anything negative to local people (but free to do it when you'd be back to home country).

I wonder...would that person also do similar law suit if it was done by fellow Abu Dhabi citizen? But unlikely locals would do it to each other coz they know what would happen next, right?

Man, judges and attorneys and lawyers must be so busy over there.

:(

She must be happy she was deported because she is white, others are put in jail without fair trail, without translater, without convincing court process. And then sentenced...................

I appritiate western countries for their democracy, freedom of speech ( not the misused version) , strong law & order, right for individual human being.

In western countries media writes alot of these kinds of stories and many people therefore dont want to visit these countries...
