Actually, greater political and social participation of women, and greater female social mobility, is what destroys nations and not a means of "progress". Every strong nation is a nation that is patriarchal and male dominated society. Problems like increasing sexual harassment of women is due to more presence of women in the public space and challenging of male domination rather than the opposite. In a male dominated society where women are primarily homemakers, there is hardly any sexual harassment and rape is unheard of. Look what happened in Pakistan with the scandalous motorway incident. A middle aged woman was driving alone on the highway. Such a thing was unheard of decades ago in Pakistan. No woman would travel alone driving a car on the highway. Pakistan must return to the policy of Chador aur Char Diwari. It is for women's own benefit to return to this policy, to save them from sexual harassment.
Also there is too much sexualization happening in society, including Islamic Pakistan. Everywhere you go female dancers and actresses are being promoted. People are losing their traditional family values which explains why more men are misbehaving and harassing women on the streets. There is no more haya and sharafat among our men and women. Even some men with beards and skullcaps have been caught engaging in lewd behavior toward women in public. The answer is to enforce strict Pardah in society.
