What's new

Without the muhajirs, Pakistan would not exist

Oh bhai thats like saying most of PTI's seats were won by ex-PPP or ex-PML N people - Vote kisss ko parhaa Quaid-e-Azam ko ! :)

Bhai - Punjab because of it's agriculture was prosperous, and there were no communal tensions - barring some isolated quarrels all religious communities were living comfortably unlike east where Musilms economically were lagging far behind and inter-communal temperature was high. That's why election in Punjab was called test for Muslim league's claim of being representative of all Muslims as convincing people who had no major problem was not easy. And joining of unionists member into Muslim league played major role in this victory - politics of Punjab even after decades is more or less same, for example no matte how huge crowed IK was able to gather in cities, people of rural areas or even in cities voted traditionally - Hashmi & Qurashi would have won even if they were in ML.

No I don't agree; you're ignoring the Quaid-e-Azam factor....my elders tell me that whenever Quaid-e-Azam used to say something in a rally or on the Radio in English most of us had no idea what was being said but everyone knew and was unanimous in one expression 'Jo bhi kuch keh raheiii hain sahiii keh raheiii hain' - Bohat....bohat bariii fan following thiii Quaid-e-Azam key idhar....my Grandpa himself attended a huge rally here himself ! :)

punjab and sindh were far behind other indian states who had entered into industrial age, muslims were kept backward and muslim majority areas of british colony were the most backward areas

there was not one industry in pakistan where it became independent

mullahs ruled muslims so muslims were away from education, hindus were much prosperous, muslims in the hindu areas learnt from them and got educated

Very few people had Radio that time, MAJ was indeed popular in urban area and rural area near them but not in all Punjab as those people were busy in their day to day life and was not aware of what's happening in cities. But Pakistan movement got momentum when politicians of rural started joining Muslim league.

This is true history, a lot of people do not know Punjabi zamindar joined ML and then ML became very powerful. That is why there has never been land reform in Punjab till date because zamindar brings the votes.

LOL!!! Industry is not only bench mark of economic prosperity - People of Punjab have fertile lands and on average Muslims of Punjab was much prosperous than Muslims of UP, Bihar or Bengal. Even today Industry in Indian Punjab is nothing as compare to UP & Bihar but still per capita income of Indian Punjab is higher than UP & Bihar.

Mullahs never ruled Punjab - nor Punjabi Muslims were away from education because of religion. Rural Punjabis over all irrespective of religion used to consider education useless - Infact doing Job/Naukari was considered taboo in families who had lands. It was plight of Muslims in east which led Sir Syed Ahmed Khan to start campaign for education there to get Jobs and later formation of Muslim League there to raise voice for Muslims.

Failed land reforms along with millions of lives is the price of Pakistan.

Never have truer words been spoken..

Sometime you have to tell harsh truth to get people out of delusion.

noop u are very wrong here, in the british times UP and bihar were a lot ahead in prosperity, it is after partition due to corruption they fell behind, indian punjab since then got progressed, controlled it population rate, while pakistani punjab also fell behind as compared to indian punjab

per capita income of punjab is higher because of less population, UP is roughly equvivalent to pakistan population similar case with behar etc

Read little bit of history - It was Hindus who were enjoying prosperity in east under British. While Muslims were being oppressed after fall of Mughal empire and after 1857 rebellion it deteriorated further. Social status of handful business elite or bureaucrats doesn't mean that Muslims were prospering there. On other hand Punjab was the last Indian state who fell to British, and after establishing rule British pacified Punjabies by laying network of canals and giving them lands, recruited them in Army.

Low Population of Indian Punjab doesn't change the fact that average Indian Punjabi is better off than average person from UP & Bihar. And people from UP & Bihar are migrating to Punjab to earn livelihood. Pakistan's Punjab fell little behind because it failed to create economic opportunities other than agriculture to match the population growth on time, we are catching up. But still Punjab is doing well than other provinces.
