Dude - It didn't happned with Urdu speakers of Karachi only - ask any old Punjabi speaking guy settled in southern Punjab. But Punjabi speaker didn't give flying fcuk to this and asserted themselves as Pakistanis - now this term is non-existing, now nobody dares to call them Muhajir on face but you can still find some idiots who on their back call them Muhajir. the same way liaqat ali khan helped urdu speakers get settled in karachi .. allotments without documents etc unlike the punjabi refugees who had to face much more hardships..

Just to set the record straight. MQM consist of mere 1-2 million so called muhajirs. More than 3 million muhajirs migrated from Indian Punjab. We Muhajirs of Punjab are offended when someone tries to say we are the representatives of Muhajirs.

That's true, they are more so than others. Probably a large contributory factor is that Karachi was and always has been at the epicentre of the Pakistani economy, cultural identity and a mixing pot for anything and everything Pakistani. Karachi was also very cosmopolitan and very liberal/modern back in the day.

punjabi got their lands ? oh really????? they didnt even get half of what they lost in eastern punjab..i can give you several examples... i have several frnds whose forefathers migrated from eastern punjab ... left hundreds of acers of land n got 5 acres in the desert of layyah.. and even for that they had to produce original documents proving they owned land in eastern punjab along with other nonsense.. i doubt many if most even had anything other than the clothes they wore.
