One of the key election promises is that Trump wants to bring back jobs to the US.
This is ill matched with the Indian desire to bring production to India.

Will Trump (if elected) allow Lockheed Martin to move their production line to India?

Trump is against companies that move their production to cheaper countries and import their products to US
if Lockheed Martin only intends to cover some foreign markets without closing its factories back in US, then there is no problem, not to mention the military itself wouldn't allow Lockheed Martin to move its factories outside of US due to national security.

yes, if he can make a good deal. :enjoy:

didn't vote in the troll poll because there is no alliance.

The idea is that India will manufacture spare parts for USAF F-16 as well.

where did you read that? it says India will manufacture F-16s and spare parts, but doesn't say its meant for USAF
pretty much all major users of F-16 produce their own parts to begin with, and countries such as Turkey even have capability to perform their own upgrades on the plane.
I don't even understand the point of F-16 production in India, it would pretty much force India to buy F-16s while other countries are working towards replacements of F-16 and there aren't many potential export markets either.

Plenty of articles around. One example:

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...ch-to-india-f-16s-jobs-and-a-blow-to-pakistan

While countries can produce some spare parts, the Lockheed Martin representative
says in this article that certain parts would only be produced in India, after such a deal.

Thus USAF would have to buy from Indian companies "stealing american jobs".

yea, highly doubt the US government would allow Air Force to be relying on a foreign country for critical spare parts.
you should be more concerned with Republicans holding the Congress than Trump becoming president, considering Republicans are usually the ones that take military seriously

In Sweden, there is a proverb:

- Don't sell the bearskin, before You shot the bear.

What do you think the next tweet will be if someone says to Trump that
Obama is selling out the USAF and American Jobs, and Hillary is behind it after large sums of
money has been transferred from India to the Clinton foundation...

well then trust me we are not going for swedish grippen as it wont be ready /FOC till 2024 and we might get it only after 2025 even if we order it tommorow while LM is much much better placed to provide all what we need and that to on a very tight scedule and budget which SAAB can never dream to .... rest keep speculating but make no mistake SAAB is not getting indian order ... period

IF India agrees to buy F-16 (Unlikely) AND IF Trump's becomes president.

THEN he will most certainly permit to move the production to India since there are no more orders for F-16.

The alternative is to shut down production. So this whole question is a waste of time.

Actually Grippen has a much better chance than F-16, but in reality NON of the two is going to be selected since Grippen do not have any say on GE 414 engine tech. transfer.

SAAB says that MII Gripen E can be made available 3-5 years after a contract.
It is going to take time to move an F-16 production line as well.

Realistically a contract is not going to be signed until maybe earliest End 2017,
so it all depends whether IOC aircraft are acceptable.
It was not for Tejas, but that can be lack of trust in HAL.
Remains to be seen.

If India wants to negotiate for four years, then FOC time is less of a problem

Lockheed martins F16 plant is going to be closed for no further order and will be used for F 35.

In that case it will be an addition to US economy if the closing F 16 plan reopens in India. Trump is a businessman and will know it.

The US will not accept that manufacturing of spare parts is closed down yet.
