Why Punjabi in Pakistan considered inferior to Urdu

Urdu is a military purpose language. A language of administration.

For a security state like Pakistan. Jinnah chose Urdu for its efficiency not for its eve teasing capabilities.

Punjabi is only good for literature or music and I guess religious reasons for Sikhs, but it is obsolete.

And the people who argue against me are probably those proud intellectually dishonest Punjabis that use words like ambaalans, motar, turpayn, cylandar.

No language is inferior or superior to another language. The importance of a language is determined on how effective it is as a means of communication which is also determined by the number of speakers you can communicate with.

i am not a Punjabi speaker, infact i don't understand most of it when people do speak it, but this is just my observation so don't hate me for it.

To me Punjabi comes across as a cool funky language, a language for when you wana joke around or have fun. For a more serious or even romantic conversations, Urdu is better suited for it.

I personally think that all Pakistanis should be atleast tri-lingual and should have the option of choosing what language they wish to learn. They should be taught in this manner

1. One Regional language (any language apart from the mother tongue, so if your mother tongue is Punjabi then you will need to choose either Sindhi or Pashto, etc etc)
2. National Language
3. One International Language (it doesn't have to be only English)

It eventually comes down to paranoia. Jinnah made a choice not gave an order. You are more than welcome to legislate within the provincial body for greater Punjabi appreciation. Nobody stops you but threatening 71 for a British Broadcasting Propaganda is deplorable to say the least.

Language is a conduit to success---. Punjabis will learn the language that will lead them to success---urdu---english---chinese etc etc etc---Italian---spanish---Japanese---german

My roommate in my previous university was from Faisalabad, he learnt Pashto from me. A kashmiri friend too. In my current uni another lahore friend learnt Pashto. Working in Sawabi (with Pashtoons) now.

But

Saying that Punjabis progress because they have this "unique" ability/approach is wrong. I also learnt Hindko and Punjabi. Lots of my Pathan friends did. Even An illiterate Pathan can speak Enough urdu. Its same for all. I can speak (local languages) Pashto, hindko, punjabi and understand saraiki and Sindhi.

Jinnah Sahib did not get Pakistan by speaking Urdu---he got it by speaking english.

Urdu was a slogan to keep the nation united---one language one identity---.

A goal of independence was achieved---. Urdu was not the language of east pakistan---they had no connection to urdu---but for west pakistan---the uniting factor was urdu---.

Once that base was established---then you could divert you focus on other languages to progress---.

Do you have any clue what the secret of our industrial success was in the 60's---it was english---as a main language and german on a lesser scale and french italian on a very small scale---.

Our fighter pilots were the fastest learners of flight in the US because they knew excellent english as good as the american pilots---.

When AVM Shahid Latif says we learnt the F16 in 5 monbths while others like the Israelis and so koreans took 2 years---because the israeli and so korean pilots had to learn english in the US military bases to understand instructions---.

How about our nuc scientists---my uncle with his PhD in nuc physics spoke english just like any other american---even though he came from a family who were literally Jahils---and all the nuc scientists that I met thru him in the early 70's were as fluent in the english language as any other britisher or americans in their mother tongue---.

When Bhutto came and brought the language issues and ruined and decimated our english language school system---our country went downhill---.

A time where we should have been ahead of So korea---we are getting closer to Somalia and afghanistan---.

Language is just a tool to communicate---be it speaking sindhi baluchi pushto hindko punjabi---it is also a part of you identity---but then why do immigrants lose their mother tongue after second generation after they move to the USA---?

I won't go into details of what Urdu was believed/preceived to be .. whether or not Urdu really was jo usay samjha jata tha is another debate ...

As for Quota system, it's unconstitutional ... We are not equal citizens of the state as Quota system makes a more qualified and competent Punjabi to lose job/admission to a less qualified/competent person just because he was born in the wrong place
