Why Pakistan won't fail

This statement alone makes the whole article a big joke....
Since when did Pakistan Army put itself under a civilian authority...??
Which civilian authority ordered the Pakistan army to do coup on 1958, 1977 and 1999 ???

May be Pakistan army had secret orders from their Prime Ministers to do coup against them and this writer was the only witness to it..:cheesy:

Washington Times needs a serious quality check team..Drafting a complaint to them now...:meeting:

Your answer is in Posts 8 & 13. Please don't talk about things you have no clue about.

Don't be so dumb, Pakistan military came only because people of Pakistan call them, current situation is also building up like this as zardari had thrown Pakistan atleast 50 years back & all good work Musharraf & Army did is lost cause now.

Although international observers worry Pakistan could fail, which would destabilize the region, possibly providing radical Islamists both a base of operations and access to nuclear weapons, they underestimate the strength of democracy and democratic institutions in the country.

Here lies the bases of the whole problems....

What Pakistan has done in true reality not perception to change the minds of the western thought?

What Pakistan has proven based on true reality not perception on the democratic system that is currently abide's by??

So why question the western world, when Pakistan has to question itself of what it really is........

Thanks...

Pakistan does not need to change Western thought, unlike India that is looking for the approval of the white man to satisfy its ego, acting more American than the Americans themselves.

Pakistan does have quite a bit to do ... but some positive things can be seen.

Contrary to the propaganda by some radical Pakistani, the biggest threat to Pakistan is China.

The worst that could happen is that Pakistan becomes something as bad as North Korea.

Myanmar was also at risk ..... but recently it has made decisive moves to prevent its North Korea-isation.

Luckily, the democratic civilian govt in Pakistan has also made positive moves to re-engage with SAARC and re-engage with India.

Normalization of trade relations with India will improve Pakistan's economic re-engagement with its neighbours.

This democrazy is not good for Pakistan in any way..............what have it given to us , corrupt politicians and wrong policies.

We need a system in which draws it influence from the caliphate.Muslims were ruled by a person who was also the commanding leader of the Army.
Make an institute of judituary which do the accountablility of the Army to keep it on track .Make a system in which these bureaucratic system can be changed and we can bring up intelligent intellectual who are patriot and can take care of Pakistan's interest more than their interests.

I believe this is the Washington Times. I know Indians think everything a white man says is written in stone, but instead of shooting the messenger, try to refute the points he has made in this article.
This from a guy whose nation posted an advertisement in WSJ begging to be considered as a victim which was widely mocked and riduculed ? Almost every point is laughable in his statement ; A Pakistani with an opinion who is not in touch with reality, cannot provide a noteworthy article. One can cover one's eyes and say the world is dark, but it does not mean there ain't no light to illuminate the world. Now let's take this article and his opinions.
Despite the presence of the Taliban and radical Islamists in Pakistan, the country is stable and during the 64 years since independence, Pakistan has developed strong democratic institutions, civil society, and respect for human rights.
Strong democratic institutions, and respect for human rights !!! This statement is so laughable that i had to type straight on my keyboard. Feudalism present, check. Proportionate Taxation system absent, check. Ahmadis terrorized for practicing their religion, check. Heck, your own PTA had just banned 1300 odd words from the SMS list. What does this talk about freedom of speech in Pakistan ? In the 64 years of Independence, Pakistan has been ruled by the Military for 36 years. That is like ruling of 4 days a week in the Pakistani state by the military.
In every sense, Pakistan is a country that is progressing in every field of life, and is not likely to collapse and threaten the stability of the region or the world.
Another laughable statement ; Apart from population, which institution of Pakistan is progressing ? Your Steel is bankrupt, your Airlines are bankrupt, the begging bowl is forever extended for the IMF ? This guy unfortunately can try to fool some of the optimists cheerleading for good news, but Pakistan is in a state of rot that needs a decisive kick to move it forward.

I would say this is nothing as compared to what has happened in India since 1947.

Pakistan's economy is growing steadily despite being involved in the WOT. The steel, airlines might be bankrupt; but they are still operational. There are many nations today that are 'bankrupt', but they are still operational. There is a difference between bankruptcy & insolvency. Pakistan has much less debt than many countries in the world. Pakistan is the 27th largest economy in the world by GDP PPP. So please, stop being blinded by your hatred for Pakistan, & look at the reality. I can keep going on about what Pakistan has achieved, but I am sure you can see my point.

So if your intent is to compare Pakistan with India, then why don't you start a "BilalHaider's musings" to compare Pakistan with India ? Is your post off-topic and report-worthy ? I leave the Mods to deal with it.

What reality ? The reality that is the opinion of optimists ? Or of realists ? None of what u mentioned negates the fact that Pakistan still is in circular debt and requires constant borrowing to service its debt ? Watch what your own esteemed journalist has to say about Pakistan.

The reality of Pakistan is that it has much lesser debt than many nations of the world, pretty high FDI, reasonable forex reserves, a good sound economy based on agriculture & industry, increasing urbanization, improving infrastructure, growing GDP (& growth rates) despite being involved in the WOT, among many other things. India has a much higher debt than Pakistan, as do many nations in the world. Pakistan is perfectly capable of managing its own affairs.

For some reason this sentence is so wrong that I must advise you to prove it because you are making foul of yourself of this belief!!!!!!!!!!

Pakistan is the 27th largest economy in the world by GDP PPP (IMF), 26th largest as per World Bank data, & 27th largest as per CIA World Factbook data.
