Why Musk’s biggest space gamble is freaking out his competitors

W

What is the payload capacity of this thing and how scalable is it? Spaceship could haul humungous loads not just to space but on Earth as well and that too in a blink of an eye on a relative scale (hence the Pentagon interest).
I think you failed to realize the significant of these project method to enter space and return. US Space shuttle used rocket to send the shuttle to space which is a costly method. More expensive than Soyuz and Shenzhou capsule which defeat the purpose of using reusable space shuttle.

Tengyun definitely payload is not going to match rocket propulsion but Imagine if send one manned mission to Chinese space station of ISS costing only USD 250000 per person. What kind of revolution will it bring to space. It can even send a satellite to space as little as less than a million a piece.

As I recall they spent 14 years bowing down to the Japanese from 1931 to 1945. That Nanking incident happened in 1937-1938. The only reason they aren't still bowing down today is because the Japanese surrendered in 1945...on a US military ship with the "Anglo-Saxons"..and the Chinese reps were there but got the back row.

They didn't bow down. China never surrendered to Japan.

Look at where they are today. A still third world country that had more space launches last year than the US.

Can you imagine what would happen once China reaches developed status? The US could and that is why it is trying everything to derail China's development.

But like u said so urself, Jp surrendered. And China went on to have the anglo bow to them in Korea & Vietnam.

The fed helped spacejunkX to keep the show going via $ printing & literally starving americans.
It really needs to deliver results, ie $$, soon, otherwise it'll become a choice of which to save, spcejunkX or usa.

There is no comparison between this and what Musk is going to do with the spaceship. The comparison there exists with say the SLS for Artemis program.

Sourgraped loser.

Tengyun Project can take off from ordinary airports. And landing, you can carry people or freight. On July 16 this year, the Chinese suborbital reuse demonstration project carrier ignited and took off on time at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. After flying according to the set procedure, it landed at Alxa Youqi Airport smoothly and horizontally. The first flight mission of the Tengyun Project was obtained. A complete success.

CNSA has things far more advance than Elon Musk and NASA can mustered. CNSA is leaving both behind in dust.

How will Tengyun land on Mars ( unless there is an advance autonomous lander which will send out a team of robotic machines which will create a long runway on an appropriate site on Mars and which may take weeks to months ) ? Vertically Launched Vertical Landing spaceships are the natural state of spaceships though in the future instead of the towers in shape as of now they will be elongated in shape :

I bet his investors aren't that interested in Mars. Remember SpaceX is funded by private investors.

That picture looks like a scene from Blade Runner.

They are more likely interested in asteroid mining. So they are giving him the money to build the large ships needed to carry the heavy equipment and the ore, the autonomous vision technology to know where to look, and the boring tools.

Do you think there may need to be a few human geologist landings on some asteroids in the beginning to train accompanying vision-enabled computers because asteroids are not places where humans have gone before so there is not much prior knowledge except for the Japanese landing and the NASA landing ?

They will then have a monopoly ability to mine the solar system while everybody else tries to catch up.

I liked the geological and business information in the article but it was also unnecessarily Capitalism-heavy - "Oh the market will collapse because of massive introduction of gold" etc. Humanity should be moved away from Capitalism and objects such as asteroids and planets and moons should be considered a Commons held by all of humanity. But I am a moderate Communist so I will say that there should be private businesses who can perhaps provide taxi service for asteroid material transport to Earth and to Mars, just like Uber is a private business transporting humans.

BTW my post on the Psyche 16 mission from September last year.

Remember a crash landing with tons of gold or other precious metals is acceptable. As long as the heat shield gets it all past burning up in the atmosphere.

That's an interesting idea. Perhaps in Antarctica or Australia or the Indian Thar desert ?

Wow. You conveniently forgot the communist party of China and its campaigns in Korea against the same military. And, do you want to read the parts of history where anglo-saxons used to sell their women as sex-slaves to Sultans?
At least, learn to build a narrative. The title of The Sickman rests on your shoulders at the moment.

Yeah, i mean if the money doesn't come back (ROI) soon, this wont last long.

This is not about landing on Mars, its more about bring cost down for sending anything to space at tiny fraction compare to what we are doing now. Its going to take off like a plane to space and land back to earth like a plane. It can be repeatly reused many times. It will significantly advance space exploration and development since cost is not more factor hinder of it. China can even assemble a giant space ship by send parts and parts to space before assemble into a giant space station or spaceship since cost will be so little.

What Elon is doing using recoverable 2nd stage is still very costly compare Tengyun. Using rocket is still not efficient and cheap way to accelerate space industries. SpaceX charge one person to ISS at USD25 million. Do you think this price is affordable for mass used?

I agree about Earth-to-Earth-orbit missions to say build a giant spaceship - like you said - which can then go into deep space the Tengyun way is good if it can be scaled up to carry say 50 passengers or some cargo, especially if there are multiple such craft just like multiple aeroplanes can currently operate at the same time. The ease of operating multiple Tengyun type craft will be definitely more than Elon's rockets and will allow potentially anyone to travel to Earth orbit and reside within a deep space ship, as against Elon's supposed very feudal way of putting people into money debt if they choose to take the Starship to Mars and live on Mars. And lastly, I will still speak of human landing on Mars. Please refer my previous post.

China, and the rest of the world, are getting left behind by SpaceX. Once SpaceX demonstrates high rates of Starship flights its game over. Its going to be a long time before another country can develop a similar system.

Thats not how things work. Its plain and simple copied by others and advanced from there. So you will have dozens of similar systems from EU, China, Russia and so on.

Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX, has once again set his sights on breaking the boundaries of space travel. In fact, his latest ambition is so grand that if he is successful, the traditional aerospace giants that won the first space race might never be able to catch up.

During a recent update on the progress of SpaceX's Starship rocket, Musk confidently stated that the most ambitious spaceship yet will make its first journey in the next few months. Standing in front of the towering Starship rocket at SpaceX's "Starbase" in southwest Texas, he acknowledged that the invention "does sound crazy," but also stated that "It will work. There might be a few bumps along the way, but it will work."

The Starship rocket is designed to be the first all-purpose space vehicle that is reusable and refuelable. It can take scores of people and millions of tons of cargo from Earth directly to the moon and, eventually, Mars. And it can do it over and over again. For gambling you can follow this way https://www.canadianroofmаsters.ca/meilleur-casino-en-ligne-de-montreal/

If Elon Musk is able to achieve this incredible feat, it will surpass all his previous breakthroughs in the world of technology. His achievements in electric cars, reusable rockets for launching satellites, and the first commercial space capsule to dock with the International Space Station will seem like modest achievements by comparison.

The success of the Starship rocket will represent a significant milestone in space exploration, with the potential to change the course of space travel forever. We can only wait with bated breath to see what the future holds for this remarkable invention and for Elon Musk's visionary leadership in the world of technology.

Chinese told him exactly why his latest rocket went down...comrade Musk was in agreement. Musk is the Oppenheimer of our time, passing all the secrets back to mother China, as the latter did in the previous century.
