Was not this the same man (Anwar Ibrahim) whom Dr. Mahathir removed from office for supposed corruption and sodomy?

Yup, same person. Indonesian people in general and also all Indonesian mainstream media dont believe the allegation brought by Mahathir. As the most democratic country in South East Asia, it is a natural stance for Indonesian to support freedom and democracy through out the region, particularly for our media ( which also one of the important force during 1998 event in Indonesia (reformasi)). I believe since almost all Indonesian politicians also support Anwar Ibrahim struggle from the start, the current relationship between Indonesia and Malaysia is not like as close as during Soeharto-Mahathir leadership.

Note : Almost all senior politicians in Indonesia are former student university activist who has always had pro democracy stance during Soeharto leadership and become a major player to bring down Soeharto. In essence Indonesian politician I believe is also pro Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood as well ( similar like our media stance )

Well I can understand why there is such tension in politics in Kuala Lumpur since back in 2008 the UMNO chief ministers were ousted from the states of Selangor, Perak and Kedah. That's why Abdullah Bedawi resigned and replaced by Najib. Its interesting because I believe Najib is a shrewd politician; he promotes UMNO supremacy and even got UMNO 9 seats in the last election , yes? At the same time, to appease the ethnic populations, he has encouraged acaemics in Malaysia to promote the concept of Satu Malaysia "1MALAYSIA".

No doubt he is shrewd, he has so many baggage with him and still be Prime Minister namely the killing of the Mongolian girl. UMNO won more seats because PAS weakness especially in the state of Kedah, where many Malay contractors has little project to run. PAS responded by implementing bans with more islamic laws like banning alcohol and recently Hudud laws. UMNO and Malays politics is about money/ getting contracts. 1MDB controversy will surely throw a wrench to 1Malaysia. New GST(Goverment Sales Tax) seems to have a huge impact on rural Malay vote.

Anwar Ibrahim

Extremely charismatic, I enjoy listening to his speeches. He was very vocal during his UMNO years on nepotism and cronyism. He was wronged after disobeying Mahathir many times, and therefore thrown into jail. That is why UMNO right now is filled with 'yes man'. UMNO tried to get him on corruption, failed and resort to sodomy. How 60 year old can sodomise 24 year old guy? 24 year old cannot fight back 60 year old? Where is the justice in that? Our judiciary is a failure. So far PKR(Anwar's party) is enacting populist policies(bad!), filled with UMNO rejects, and internal conflicts.

Edit# Anwar would crush almost everyone in a one on one debate in Malaysia.
