Why has India traditionally adopted a defensive policy on Pakistan?

.
India is a poor country until 1990, India cannot afford war plus the politics and opinion is not in favor of war.

India tried to emerge from the poverty and other issues.

. .
Indians are ball less thats why

They are 7 times larger than Pakistan, these odds should have been a slam dunk a walk in the park
But because indians are ball less they couldn't do nothing
Because india is 7 times larger there was always going to be a conventional imbalance but Pakistan is a considerable conventional power
The fact that we have 200 nuclear warheads pointed at india just makes india even more impotent

Wait till our economy improves india is in for a shock
It amuses me to imagine what could be the Pakistani friends response would have been, when in few years time, Pakistan actually have upper hand in conventional war capabilities.
WHEN Pakistan will have a Superior Conventional WAR Capabilities than India :
Of course 1st and foremost Pakistan would have conquered whole of Bharat
India would have been eradicated of all evil Hindus
All non-Islamic places of worships would have been raised to the ground.
All History books would have been re-written showing how Pakistanis ruled India for centuries but for a brief 65 years dark patch in between.
Whole of Islamic India would be living a peaceful, harmonious, nonpartisan life akin Pakistan's Top City Karachi

Hahaha. Our military is quite aware of that old doctrine which led to collapse of Soviet Union. So we will never try to match up with Indian defense spending. There is a reason why we invested so hastily and heavily in developing our nuclear arsenal. Its the only defense against Indian conventional forces when everything fails... :enjoy:

Nukes surely does the trick. But we are intelligent too. ;)

Enforced by the IMF bailout package. Again, they were forced upon from the outside. Speaks volumes about collective Indian intelligence...

That was the LAST time we took an IMF package ; way back in 1991
and we repaid it prematurely by 1995

You have always been on IMF packages

Wont you like your current IMF package to be the last one :-)

Dude that is what China did in 1970's.

These are economic wars and the west has clear advantage over almost all crucial resources like Oil.

The world is running on market economy and India has to walk in that path to be successful. India should emerge from the shadows to make the difference.

I am hopeful !

Beggars can eventually become choosers with threats of terrorism.
but the problem is no one is taking your threats serousli as all know what why and how pakistan always played a double game over "terrorism" and now pakistan has come to a point where in order to get sympathy and attention is trying to blckmail india and rest of the world by putting a neuclear gun on its own head :sarcastic:

.
Pakistan has a LOT of economic potential but just the WRONG priorities
We have no oil, we used up all our gas. Sure we have a nicely located seaport, but what good would it do unless China keep investing in it on its own.

Oil and gas are not everything ; India also has only two natural resources Iron ore and coal

The bigger point is what are you spending your existing resources on

You have human resources but they are not getting used
up properly and hence there is this growing extremism

The financial resources get used up in defence expenditure

To QUOTE Hillary Clinton ( She might be the next MAN in White House )

"If there were peace between Pakistan and India, and the outstanding issues were resolved, Pakistan would take off like a rocket in terms of economic development.

See, the threat of Terrorism is a double edged sword, injuring Pakistan in the process.

The monkey trap is working day and night, the more Pakistan employs moronic strategies the more it gets trapped.
