Why does Thailand need Submarines for?

Hate to admit it, but VN getting Russian subs and Phil getting US airplanes and warships, not to mention China, Japan, Australia, US navies getting around SCS, all of those contributes a lot to Thailand decision of getting more subs and warships. The sea is getting hot, and those are unprepared will get burned.
