The electorate has to mature in order for democracy to mature. Who elects the politicians? Why is there no discussion on the kinds of institutional reforms needed in our media? Why don’t people on social media focus on repeatedly asking popular anchors to ask pointed questions about reforms and offer suggestions for questions etc? What is mature? are we coming from stone age?
Should i understand, politicians are screwing up with everything because democracy is not mature?
BTW, what's the time frame for maturity of this democracy? and what are the indicators?
I think the kind of maturity politicians need they achieve it in first couple of months, starting with interior ministry and so forth.
Forcing people to choose is not a choice.
There are countries performing without politicians and there were more countries without politicians, in history.
Politicians in Pakistan are used by foreign states to hijack and screw Pakistan.
Why don’t we talk about having ‘primaries’ where multiple candidates from the same political party that want to run for the same seat fight elections organized by the ECP to determine who will run for that particular seat instead of letting the party leadership decide? As a nation, we’re not collectively (and the media has a major role to play here) asking the right questions of our political leadership, and not just from the ruling party, but every major party.
