Today's defeat to WI was even worse than their loss to India.
That tall guy in the Pakistani team is just there for media value. He does not the the fiery pace of shoaib akhtar, he does not have the swing of waqar younis, he does not have the cunning of wasim akram. He is there as a showpiece.
Shahid Afridi is another flop show. That man cannot bat under pressure which is extremely important for a genuine batsman. If the asking rate is 6 then he starts becoming nervous and plays some stupid shots, if there is no pressure then he can bat freely but it disguises his inability. I would still say Pakistan has one of the best bowling attacks in the WC. The captain and the coach has failed to come up with a strategy to properly utilize them. The team has talent, it is the leadership which is making crucial mistakes. And Pakistan will have to take a hard decision on Younis Khan.
that tall guy is there because.. well... he's tall.
Honestly, throughout the game I was thinking maybe he should be benched so someone can field instead. This dude can't bat, can't run between wickets, can't field, can't stop boundaries. he runs like (to be not offensive) how very tall people run.
I think this guy is a failed investment and we should find someone else. People will get used to his height and then he won't be potent anymore. At least shoaib excelled in other things compared to him.
Thanks for the explanation.
Don't believe that.
Some people are really upset. Even Shoaib akhtar who hates entire pakistan team praises him.
Najam sethi is much better than zaka asraf and previous guy. Najam brought kenya team and almost brought ireland to visit pakistan. He also got pakistan a piece of cake from big 3 unlike ashraf who got nothing and failed. He also got india to agree on playing Pakistan (After a gap of many years) and it's very likely that a full member may visit Pakistan cricket grounds in couple of years (if terrorism doesn't increase). Which is why he wants to become ICC president so he can talk teams into coming to Pakistan. But emotionally charged people think he's there for free business class tickets, car and so forth (which he already gets and he pays more tax than Imran Khan/nawaz shariff combined. Hard to believe but imran nor nawaz have challenged him on that).
About the punctures, Imran is yet to come up with proof against sethi and he has refused to face sethi in court.
No one has mentioned internal issues within the team
The Pak fielding coach just quit in between the WC & thats says something. .
Two things stand out - Team selection & Team cohesion.
A team that has old horses 40 & 38 years old on one side and youngsters on the other is bound to have communication gaps - olders ( I detest the word 'Seniors' Asian players use for team members older to them) must think themselves above the young ones leading to little interaction on &off the field.
The board played safe by including the tried & tested types with emotional appeal to the nation.
Misbah is good, but he's not fit for captain. not agreesive and too passive. It's like making tendulkar captain. Tendulkar can bat but isn't captain material.
Sadly in Pakistan, if someone starts scoring or takes wicket, people want to see him as captain. Example, they wanted to make shehzad as t20 captain and ajmal as captain as well. Which is why i prefer afridi as captain. He's not good player, but he's very aggressive and can get things done. He got us to semi final in 2011 until we lost to India. We happened to beat all teams in group games (including australia) but one. Also this was soon after we had that "fixed balls" problem.
Misbah can play, but only play as batsman.
