What's It Like To Be An Indian In A Pakistani Cab In The U.S?

abusive? which word is abusive dude? or do you perceieve things differently?

Well, that might have been okay with the other political parties but when the Indian government specifically asks your FO/Ambassador to not meet them, they are expected to obey that.

Thats why the secretary level talks got disbanded. This is no drama, just plain course of action.

.
2) It's not a big deal nor did it come out of the blue .. Pak had been meeting Hurriyat leaders since decades and it was more of a tradition to meet them whenever our PM or FO persons visited india .. So why the drama after this one ?
Would the Pakistanis approve of our High commissioner in Islamabad meeting representatives of Azad Kashmir including GB which is part of Kashmir?? And I'm not talking about the freedom fighters of Balochistan.

And this is the truth about Pakistan Administered Kashmir......

Truth hurts, what? You guys can't even sort out the problems of Kashmiris in what you call 'Azad Kashmir' and you never hesitate to say that Indian Kashmir is the 'unfinished agenda of partition'?

So why shouldn't India be talking to the 'Azad Kashmir' reps too? After all the whole of Kashmir is 'disputed territory', right?

Here's a piece from Debayan Datta from Silchar, India........Nice read.

I had only just arrived in the US. I had to go to the Social Security office for paperwork, just like every other immigrant. Since I hardly knew anyone, I decided to step out of my office and get a cab.

Getting there was the easy part. However, once I was done with my work, I realized that I was a long way from the office, and there would not be any bus till evening. As I was hovering around the bus stand, unsure of what to do, I noticed a local cab/van with an Indian/South Asian-looking fellow looking out through the driver's window.

Needless to say, the van stopped, I walked towards him, and this fellow asked me where am headed. After figuring out the address he said "Ok. I'll drive you there". I gladly hopped in.

Within 5 minutes, he got a call from someone on his cell. After he hung up, he turned to me, and asked - "Do you mind if I make a detour?". I said Ok, figuring out that it was a redundant question for someone lost as a Dodo.

Within two minutes, we got out of the freeway. The roads started getting narrower. The houses started looking shabbier, creepier. The neighborhood looked like ghetto.

At this point, my south Asian-looking cab driver, turned around and asked me "Are you from India?". I nodded, and asked him the same.

"I am from Karachi. My name is Rahim. How do you do?" - pat came the reply. Then he added - "I'll be right back".

Probably a few thousand thoughts went through my head as I started imagining things, how he could from behind, shoot me, dump my body somewhere, or simply rob me at gun point, and throw me out of the cab etc. etc.

In reality nothing remotely close to any of that happened. He stopped the car, went to one of those houses, probably his, and came back with a large coffee flask. As the aroma of freshly brewed coffee pervaded the cab, he smiled mischievously at me, and said "My car-owner wanted me to get this for him when I go back to the garage". I smiled back, still reflecting on my sheer idiocy and flight of imagination. We shared some of his tasty home made coffee and moved on. ( I learnt later the garage owner was an Indian!)

I remained silent for the rest of the trip. My newly found friend brought me to my office, stopped the cab, and asked me "How much did you pay when you went there?" I said, "30 dollars". He thought for a while, then said, "Give me 20".

As we exchanged the fare and the change, shook hands, and he drove out, two people from different sides of the borders just got to know each other, more at a personal level, rather than an arch enemy, and went on their business.

Till the time I left that city, I regularly played cricket with Rahim and his gang. It was one of the best things that happened to me during my stay.

When I was on a visit to Lahore, my cab driver even refused to take a tip from me for driving me around for two days! He said he couldn't since I was a guest from India!!
Typical Pakistani expat. Nothing shocking. Been there done that.

Desi people living abroad are generally more rounded and have a healthy perspective on life. Traveling can do to this to you.

indian media + bolly wood you so of BIT-tch make people like we are monsters or aliens :taz::angry::hitwall:

India and Pakistan relation in US is different than in Indian subcontient...The reason is simple..The culturatal identity of India, Pak and BD people are treated as South Asians.. And apart from that people who to US from India or Pakistan have different objective..to make money..not to spend money either with fighing with Pakistan not to fight with India for Kashmir...expect me...:-)..

Lmao go ahead ... GB citizens want rights and a provincial status and the edited video is of police controlling political roots during the past elections which was won by PPP later..

Police itself is composed of locals, apart from NLI which is the highest awarded military regiment in Pak Army..

Apart from that here is something for you to read:

Also we have GBistani members on PDF.. Go ahead ask them.

You are only fooling yourself into believing this nonsense.

Your illusions are getting really strong. :)

My illusions? How do I come in? If you're talking about that write-up in the opening post, it was not written by me! Read again.
I have read it. I am pointing out your cherry picking. :) Human to human interactions will be similar everywhere. We don't see a need to be sentimental about it. There were good positive interactions between Nazis and other people as long as Jews were not mentioned. Pakistanis are also human beings, I don't deny that. But extending a superficial relationship and making it appear to prove the present animosity between the two nations as stupid is stretching it a bit.

Indians are small heart people, Shahid Afridi said it best.

So when they see big heart people, they go nuts.

Living in a world of denial as usual? Never mind. That doesn't affect us. It's your problem! :P

Truth be told, most Pakistanis in Pakistan(those are the ones that matter) will actually laugh at the soft hearted well meaning Indian approach to the common Pakistani. There are of course exceptions, but that's what they are. Exceptions.

True, that's because of the similarity of the people. In a foreign place, people come closer to their nearest neighbors.

A big heart may be serious condition. If it's widespread, it may as well be genetic. I highly recommend a prompt treatment.
