On Monday Randal Olson, a Computer Science graduate research assistant at Michigan State University,created this map of the top autocomplete words for each country in Europe after one for America arose.

Olson, who is the moderator of the r/DataIsBeautiful subbreddit and a BI contributor, also sent along the below map showing a Google autocomplete for Asia created by reddit user system637 in Hong Kong.

Google's autocomplete suggestions come from previous searches by Google users or other places on the web. Suggestions may include relevant searches the user has done in the past (if you’re signed in and have Web History turned on).

Here are the autocomplete suggestions for: "Why is [country] ...?"

I saw what writer has tried to do but why are you so jealous if they have made Pakistan IMPORTANT.

Need to take that report on face value.. Dont think there are any hidden agenda's.. This is just what your average person in the world search for about specific countries.. Not all are nuanced to geography or latest developments

My post was about how diff countries were called. And Sri Lanka it seems is very famous according to this study. Trust me I dont have any issues.

On the contrary.. This is what people are inquiring about, Not necessarily what they are known for .. For example.. It seems a lot of people are searching what's so famous about Sri Lanka, Does not mean it's very famous

I know but I don't know why they have shown Pakistan as important, Sri Lanka as Famous and Malaysia as Truly Asia. All other things that people search on internet about other countries are true.

Obviously because what's in the news these days.. My guess on your three examples are.. Pakistan because of its often volatile relationship with the U.S.. Sri Lanka because of its new found frontier market designation and the publicity it had gained as a top notch tourist destination.. Post civil war

And of cause Malaysia hilarious though but because it's massively successful tourism promotion catch phrase.. "Malaysia truly Asia"
